4th order tunning

Recommended Posts

From what Ive read about forth orders, the tuning of the front port is NOT what the enclosure will peak at. Using winisd you can see the response curve of your enclosure which depends on your desired S value iirc it think thats what its called. You can pick from .5,.6, or .7 S values iirc .5 will give you a flatter response curve allowing you to play over a wider range of freq. .7 gives you a peakier response curve which narrows your freq. range, but it turn will make you louder at those certain freq. ie:. a one note wonder. .6 is in the middle obviously.

anyway to answer you question, the porting of the front chamber is in no way what the enclosure is optimized for.

there is a calc for 4th orders, and while idk how good it is, using what you come up with and looking at it in winisd will give you a much better idea of 4th order principal. this is why i want a TL so bad so i can just build lil 1 12" 4th orders and get things figured out before building a big one for comps :P

lemme find the links real quik
