I just got finished sealing my XL off from the trunk. It loves 30-40hz but I really don't have a lot of response 41hz and up barely at all honestly. I like it sealed forward but I think to get great performance from it you need quite a bit if power to do it. I'm running a audiopipe 1500 on it and it's just not doing it and I'm looking into a sundown 3000 now. If it sounded better to you how it was I'd do that again. Sealing it off is a kind o permanent thing and do you not plan to put your seats back in? Because if you do that will not benefit doing it.

i dont really plan on putting my seats back in in the near future. yes it sounded better with the seats in but i dont understand how it sounded louder since the only way air could get from the trunk to the cabin is the 2 oval holes i sawzall'd in the rear deck (i understand the loading concept). the back seat also flexed a LOT (all foam and some metal bar) so i would assume that that would soak up most of the pressure.

If it doesn't require a whole lot more work, try turning the sub to face the rear again and still leave the seats out. Makes a WORLD of a difference. I'd try that before attempting to seal it off. If you don't want to leave a lot of damage when sealing then too, plan on using a shit ton of duct/ gorilla tape. lol

so i have 2 options so far. either rip everything out and rewire everything and put seats back in or use expanding foam.

how "easy" is it to get foam out? doesnt have to be all out...could i use a hammer or something.
