HHR Ed
t3 hands down in daily situation. where will you get a t2000 from and t3 wont be able to recone it for you prob have to go thru psi if u blow it. the pioneer is more of a spl sub. i had a custom driver using a t3 tss motor(same as t2000) got pretty loud sq was good but for the price range i would take a rd alpha hands down. i just got one custom built with a 3" ww 8layer vc tall surround cf cone duel stiff spiders. cost to get it reconed was still cheaper than a new t2000 and the fs was 34hz unbroken in kills low end has a real punch sq is amazing better than tss Pioneer isnt more of an SPL sub, has a smaller spider and larger gap. And yes we can recone a T2000. HHR Ed
the sub will be used in a daily driver for music listening. 90%rap 10% rock. but of course want something that will be as loud spl wise as possible even if lacking some sq. im leaning toward the t3 just off reviews and the fact that it will have warranty. i just cant help but like the pioneer since its a little bigger watt wise and about 15-20lb heavier lol Wattage handling and woofer weight have almost nothing to do with performance. Especially since some subs are rated conservatively and others are overrated. What is the model # of the pioneer? I can give a short run down of both woofers and good points of both Quote Ed Lester ShowtimeSPL Host Showtime Electronics Video MarketingMy old Build Loghttp://www.stevemead...08/#entry511451http://www.youtube.com/showtimespl 5 time dB Drag Finalist Last ride 2007 HHR, current dB 153.5 and bass race 149.4 dB. 153.0 dB on music New Ride, 2008 HHR SS. HHR Ed
OK I think I see that the Pioneer is the TS-W5102SPL. It's built well and uses nice parts. The cone is a carbon reinforced Poly Propylene. Poly cones themselves are quite light but weak. They reinforce it for rigidity. The total weight may be more than a T2000 but this is mainly because of the basket. The motor on these woofers is actually quite weak for the soft parts and suspension stiffness they utilize. The suspension is tuned for lateral control for power handling but can limit full excursion. They do have a strong surround and nice spider material. As well as a coil capable of handling alot of heat. So these Pioneer woofers can play pretty clean at high power levels, but they are difficult to hit high numbers with. I know Scott Owens has said how difficult they were to get loud and that other brand subs made his score skyrocket. Its mainly to due to the motor and spider design. But they sound clean. Now the T2000 We started with the DD9500F type motor which was used on the TSS. We upgraded cooling channels as well as added more mass and a larger top plate. This slightly increased motor force. We used CCA coils as we have tested these to handle tremendous heat. The spiders are a 10" Conex spider with high peaks. The travel on this is unlike any other spider. The conex remains stiff horizontally but still allows the woofer to move as much as it can. So basically we dont make the woofer more stiff just to make it handle more power. The cone is a rigid paper back with a carbon front. So rigidity and strength is very high. Not as light as full carbon but light enough. And the surround is a multi layer foam rubber, which is very strong and has good elasticity. So the T2000 has amazing motor strength and large travel suspension to allow for high SPL #s, but also has a tuned and dampened suspension to allow it to be very musical. HHR Ed
Id take the pioneer over the t3 all day long all the here today gone tomorrow bullshit with t3 is for the birds..ive owned 5 of thier subs was never impressed with them enough to say id buy another one. business practices are pretty lame as well. I dont roll with the im having issues so wait til i feel like sending you woofers philosophy either. I am sorry if have had issues with T3. I wish it was in my power to prevent that. But now I am more in power to make things right with T3 and hope to help our customers more and more. We have had unfortunate things happen this past year or 2. And its no excuse, just an explanation. If you would like some details as to the happenings, you can read it here http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=56632&page=2 If you cannot go on there then just ask and I will post it here. The important thing is that we are getting back on track and can do more for the customer. HHR Ed
lol, funny stuff right there. I would be interested in seeing how that assessment was made seeing as how from the couple thousand T2000s sold, only 3 have been blown that I have seen. And they were being powered by almost double the rated power.
