needmorebass Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 Hey So..I'm new. Been watching Meade's vids for a while now but just now getting around to coming here. I am looking for my first system, I don't need anything where people can hear me coming from a mile away, just some extra bass I know that most (all???) of you guys hate prefab boxes, but that is what I will be getting as I have not had a "father" figure since I was about 5, have no tools and wouldn't even have any idea where to start to build a box. Right now, I am looking for subs, amplifier, new HU (I think..), and everything I'll need to hook it up.. can anybody please assist me ? I have a 2009 aveo sedan with the stock radio and six stock speakers (which I *might* upgrade in the future, depending on if I keep this car after it is paid off after this year). My budget is around $500, although I guess it could go a little higher.

Get some dacron batting to line the inside the box to keep any unwanted noise from being created. I was thinking at least 10's or 12's for the subs, 8's seem a bit small to me o.O also (to me) ported boxes are a lot louder, but I haven't really heard too many systems to compare. I would like to keep from my lights dimming or anything like that, though. Edit: Also, what about for HU's as I probably won't keep stock I need it to have aux input as I have an xm radio and mp3 player..

Skullz Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 The only drawback to this h/u is the 2v pre outs but a really nice h/u for being at the lower end of alpine, also has a hp filter which is a very good thing for setting it to cut out the lower frequencies going to your stage speakers.
