porting truck box

i am trying to make a truck box for my alpine type r 1042d. i am running this with a kenwood kac 8152d 550w@2ohm. The sub is invert mounted inbetween the driver and passenger seat. i have a high perfomance bass driver set before the amp (MA audio).

i am trying to make a good ported box for this. i have played around with the Re enclosure calculator but am wondering what i should tune the box for? (heres what im lookin at now 42W x 12.5H x 5.5TD x 7.5 BD 1.5" port width and 19" port length with .75mdf) that would give me 38.2 hz with 1.029 box volume. do these dimensions sound good for their application? i listen to a rap and some metal so i dont want a lot of mushy double bass. but want rap to hit

is ~38Hz a good tuning freq for this setup?

or should i aim for another number

lmk what you guys think i cant change the dimensions too much since its a reg cab truck either maybe gain a few inch of high but TD would have to be cut back if it went up a lot.

(other system components alpine CDE9874 h/u (HPF set to 120hz), alpine power pack amp, 2 6x8 type r coax, 2 6x8 type s coax)

amp has adjustable frequencies (50-200hz (set to ~120hz)) input sensitivity (.2v-5v) set to ~1.5v) ISF (off,15,25hz) (set to 15hz)

That's what i got? not 38hz with 1.029 cubes.

I'd make the depth of the box flat at maybe 7"s deep instead of angled if you can. I'd also aim for 35hz.

its slanted because its in a reg cab truck. but is this port type calculator for a straight port out the side or an L port? my calculations were from the RE enclosure calc.

any benefits to having a different port

You missed the #common port walls @3 which would have dropped it to 40 but still a tad high for rap and lower bass, you could use a 4" diameter pvc pipe 28"L for a tuning of 32.82 and net of 1.02 with a displacement of .1 for the sub.

sweet good help here... is there a certain place i should mount the port? and how should i brace the pvc pipe thats inside the box

After sub displacement it might bring it up a bit, but yeah, missed that. haha.

sub is invert mounted so no displacement

actually add .05ft^3 if i saw right
