superdave07
alright so this is a noob question, but id rather ask and know for sure than to damage any equipment. I am looking to run two AP30001d amps, one per subwoofer. My question is since they do not have a pass thru rca set up on them, how would i do that? do i need a processor or equalizer? Or a simple Y splitter in the RCAs? Any help here would be great, thanks guys! superdave07
Ok well now lets talk bass knobs. I am going to have a tough time getting the amp settings to be matched, let alone try to work two bass knobs. Since the AP bass know is a two wire set up, can i splice both wires from both amps into one knob? has anyone tried this? i would think it would work find but im not sure about distorting the signal? Any help would be great! Autruche
look on ebay for RCA level controller, it's the way to go over a bass knob. And using a y-splitter is the way to go, if you're concerned about splitting the signal and losing power in your RCAs, you could always get a line booster to even it out. just gain match your amps with a scope or DMM, and you're done. skittlesRgood
its much harder to gain match with an oscope than a dmm... well, at least with mine. using a dmm takes like 10 min. jhmeg2
Use the Y spliter, then gain math with a DMM. Put in a disc that has a 50Hz tone. Set one amp to where it needs to be. Disconect the speaker wires and set the meter to AC put the DMM leads on the speaker terminals. Note the output, remove leads from that amp go to the second amp. While watching the meter ajust the gain until you reach the same level. Reconect the speaker leads. Done. Hope this helps.
