Subs lol...take a crappy speaker and hook it up to an amp that will fry it. Once it smokes you'll have something to compare the smell t :peepwall: o.

Its clipping. I am reconing my sub because it was clipping and I didn't catch it in time. Turn down the gain or you'll fry the vc like I did. I smelled it, turned it down and it was done. I had been running it for a few days prior to that, beating the hell out of it. Lower the gain

I've heard Solo X's are for like 1500 rms cant handle 1 watt more.

i have had every size solo-x made, also a solo-x 18 with (from my understanding directly from kicker) a prototype motor design, and some spares that from my understanding had some different adhesives kicker was testing. never had any problems at all running WAY over rated power.

i ran 2 2500.1's on my 12, and also ran the same 2 2500.1's on my 18, each amp at 1 ohm.

Good thing man. Like I said, I'm working on my recone now, if it doesn't smell pleasant, it isn't pleasant. Whenever you smell that, your either clipping or over-excurting the subs. Good luck with it man
