do aluminum cones get warm?

Recommended Posts

I dont know if its a stupid question or not, but my sub has an aluminum cone and I had it runnin on BME click for a good couple minutes. got out and felt the cone, it was ice cold. so I figured Id ask...also, whats the advantage of an aluminum cone?

edit: forgot to mention it wasnt just BME click  I had been romping on it for 10 minutes before that...

From what i have learned from Ed Lester, Alum naturally heats up quickly and cools down quickly. These are best for burps.

Copper takes a long time to hear up and a long time to cool. Best for daily.

Could be the other way around, i forget now. :pardon:

so would that mean that if you used a alui coil sub daily you could fry it faster than copper coil sub?

Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k!

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

Could fry it faster, but if your giving it rated or less than rated it only means it will heat up faster. Heat doesn't always mean fry and in some cases a warm sub could play better than a cool one.
