BeachJoshua
Okay, So I managed to steal one of these amps.... I got it for 160, and it came with a Cerwin Vega 124 [12in dual 4 ohm 1000watt rms] in a prefab ported box... Only using the amp... Anyways... So I've looked around, and I'm sure this amp is putting out over 1000 RMS... like EASILY.... So I set it with a DMM at 50hz for 1200... Am I safe? as in not clipping. kandiman71874
If you tried to set it for 1200 watts, its safe to say you are clipping the sub. From my own prior experience (and yes i have a damn o-scope) you will start to see a dirty pattern around 1050 watts depending on your input signal and voltage drop. If you have no idea where your head unit starts to throw out a clipped signal, if it does, then you could be clipping a lot worse than you think. Find someone with an o-scope, set it up correctly, and save your equipment and your wallet some money. You will thank yourself later... I basically only listen to low bass and decaf. I have an o-scope, but there's no way what it's saying is correct, it's saying my deck doesn't clip even at full tilt, and it's also saying the amp is clipping when i BARELY turn up the gain... It makes no sense. Quote | S-10 | 4.5^3 ft | 33Hz | SAE-1000D @ 1 Ohm | 2 SA-12s | SPL: 143.7 Sealed | 153.4 Port Wars
