BlockShaker
I just got a Samsung 61" DLP 1080p Slim-Depth Television and hooked it up to my new PS3. Also, I got a Monster Cable HDMI 300 and M1000 cable. Everytime I start playing a game I always get these green, red and blue pixels flickering and white pixels when I watch a DVD or Blue-Ray Disc. I've checked all the settings and they are all right. When the system is in XMB mode there is nothing and is picture perfect clear. The TV works fine with a regular DVD player and HD Cable Television. Has anyone experienced this problem? I e-mailed Sony and they want me to try a Sony licensed cable. I think it might be the Ps3 I tried two different HDMI cables. Monter Cable 300 Series for $80 and I even got a Monster Cable M1000 for $150. Both produce the same result. It works fine with a Sony DVD player I have with an S-Video cable. BlockShaker
i know i had to mess with a few output settings to get my hdmi to work correctly. I did that already. I called Samsung and they linked the problem to Sony. I called Sony and they linked the problem to Samsung and said that the TV should have a firmware update to accept newer technologies that I can download via USB. Also, I was told to stick to a Sony Original Component Cable for now since HDMI technology is a newer technology and any other cables can void the PS3 warranty. They are trying to figure out what TVs that the PS3 is having problems with and trying to make firmware updates in the future. Most likely, if an HDMI cable works than keep using it unless you have problems just use the component cable that Sony offers and a Toslink cable for 5.1 sound if needed. One more thing that the rep told me was that Sony doesn't even offer an HDMI cable for its PS3 Accessories since its still in its infancy and only offers the component cable for HD gameplay and movie mode. He also mentioned that he can get in trouble for mentioning that they've been having HDMI problems themselves and the HDMI output was really meant for the future. In other words, they wanted to make it easier so every PS3 can have them when Sony makes the upgrades or whatever. I think its just a bunch of BS. TheDave
I think your jumping through more hoops than you really need to. Where'd you buy the PS3 from? Take it back and get a new one.
BlockShaker
I think your jumping through more hoops than you really need to.Where'd you buy the PS3 from? Take it back and get a new one. Its not that I'm jumping more hoops than I really need to. Its just that I would really like to know what the problem is. Most of us on this website like to get to the bottom of almost all the problems we come across especially when it comes to our stereo equipment. The PS3 was a gift and it can't be returned or exchanged so I'm stuck. It was bought several months ago and wasn't used up until a couple of weeks ago. Any other suggestions? bassINyoFACE
that's a bunch of bullshit from Sony i say. the BIG thing Sony said about the PS3 is it's blu-ray capability and the only way that's even possible is to use the HDMI port you can't get 1080p resolution from component cables so i'd call their bluff on this one. there is ALOT of equipment out right now that are ALL having problems with the HDMI port not just Sony they are extremely delicate. BlockShaker
I figured the problem out with the PS3. Its not the TV because I tested another PS3 and it worked perfectly. I also spoke to Sony this past Friday and they are sending me a prepaid shipping box to send my unit back. They are going to send me a new one once they receive mine. Hopefully the new one will be fine.
