I hope you're going to have lots of displacement then. Those subs are going to bottom out when hooked up to a sony xplod amp with that much airspace. Make the box smaller than that.

ive been getting people telling me i need to give them more or im giving them too much. so im going along with what amicustoms and zachfowler said, five cubes before displacement, bit less than 4 after, ami seems to know l7s pretty well. i would swap to something like aq hdc3's but i dont have the money right now to just buy them straight up, need to sell all the l7s before i can do that. reason im sticking with l7s was because thats what i started with and just kept adding on. also cuz i had store credit at sonicelectronix and had nothing else to get lol. so right now im at the point of "what the hell, ill see what i can do with the l7s" cuz im new to car audio and have never really heard anything else. my setup is gonna be purely for daily. i dont have enough posts in any of the forums to sell anything either lol.

This is more then likely coming from someone who has never ran these subs. You have to realize that a L7 or L5 or solo x, all the squares subs need airspace like a round sub. Well that 12 square is very close in cone area to a round 15, now does 4 cubes per 15 for any sub out there sound like too much????

I know what kicker states, 20% more cone area. They also state 3.25 cubes as the maximum recommended volume for the L7 12". Nothing wrong with using a bit more than that, but using just under 5 cubes is going to seriously reduce power handling.

BTW I support you to and you did a great score. I just don't want you to damage any subs.

^^^^get a set of L7's and build a box for them, test and build and meter and try to get them louder and louder and you will see. That is really all I can say.

Clipping is my guess unless somewhere he got his numbers wrong and something isn't right in the box. But that is what they like, the 15's love 6 - 7 cubes per and 12's love 4-5 per. Just have to get the port right and make sure that is your volume per woofer.

i probably am running a bit too much power lol. [email protected] to 4 subs rated 750 a piece ina huge ass box. the first box i built was recommended by kicker and it sounded like ass to me. probably cuz they recommended tuning to 38 :/ so im just gonna go along with others peoples experience. ill take things slower this time around/go easier rather than beating the shit out of the right away
