Clipping is my guess unless somewhere he got his numbers wrong and something isn't right in the box. But that is what they like, the 15's love 6 - 7 cubes per and 12's love 4-5 per. Just have to get the port right and make sure that is your volume per woofer.

It may be clipping. I still reckon that the subs will bottom out reasonably easily in the new box. Or break at the corners like squares sometimes do from over excursion. But we shall see.

i probably am running a bit too much power lol. [email protected] to 4 subs rated 750 a piece ina huge ass box. the first box i built was recommended by kicker and it sounded like ass to me. probably cuz they recommended tuning to 38 :/ so im just gonna go along with others peoples experience. ill take things slower this time around/go easier rather than beating the shit out of the right away

Ahh. That's probably your problem right there then. You may also be clipping. Have you got enough electrical upgrades to safely run that amp at half an ohm? Also, what did you set your gains with?

i have a dc power 270xp and 2 xs power d3100s, plenty for half. the subs are moving pretty well but i dont think im having any problems with overexcursion. no offense bassl0va, but i think ima stick to with amicustoms says, hes used kickers quite a bit and seems to know kickers pretty well.

oh ya, gain is set around 1/2. bass boost is jacked up though lol. prlly 60-70%. head unit settings are relatively flat. i set them to start w/ a dmm and a 50 hz 0 db tone but didnt like it, also cuz i amicustoms said that the subs like bass boost. my preamp on my head unit is 2 volts

You're probably clipping them a bit. But since your preout voltage is reasonably low it can't be too bad. Still, clipping is clipping. Also, it's probably best to set the amp with an o-scope since it's hard to guess what that amp will do at half an ohm and with good electrical like you have. The subs shouldn't need bass boost too, that's just a 45hz boost, which could be fixed with a different box and a bit more gain. Yeah also set with -4db @ 45hz(or whatever decafs tone was) if you are just playing music, since no music reaches a full 0db bass note. Lol, same here my HU probably has a 0.5 volt preout, it is a 20 year old Sony. Older than the car, but still a damn good HU. Haha.

i haz no 0-scope only a dmm. ill go tweak with the stuff tomorrow then. i used a 0 db to be on the safe side, apparently it didnt work cuz i just decided eff it and did it by ear lol. i rarely have it playing full tilt though. maybe im not used to it yet but i feel its kind of hard to drive with it going full tilt. shaking/pressure/weird vision cant be too safe

lol .5 i dont think ive ever heard/seen anything go that low xD.
