Mine did the same thing. It was just going into protect because of a shitty ground. Make sure to check that, and see if its going into protect..

Why does everyone try to save a lil cash and ground in the back spend the money and ground to your batt saves a lot of headaches

^ because it's the common idea to ground in the back. atleast that's what my alpine amp manual said

if you do it right in the back its fine too. Its just doing it completely half ass that screws things up.

now the fi bl, one of the 2 of the voice coils on the sub got loose(the nut that was holding it in got disconnected somehow. so it's kinda just dangling) pretty sure it's just an aesthetic thing though because the dmm shows the coils at 1.6-1.7, that can't be the issue can it?

yeah it can. if it gets moving and grounds out you will go into protect.

I noticed the amp is going into protect, what could this mean? I set the amp w/ dmm on a 45hz -4.6 db test tone. 1000w @ 1 ohm = 31.6 (1000 squared correct?) when my amp was at 45(about 75%). any ideas now?
