trulywickedcustoms Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 ok i know iv been off here for a while but i ended up having to sell one of my truckd and it ended up being the dodge that i was almost done with... now im back at work on my 06' suburban im wanting to try to fit 9- 15'' FI ssd's subs up port back... ? the measurements i have that id like to keep it within are: 50" - width 50" - length -- maybe 1 or 2 more inches 24" - depth -- (+ or -) 1 inch most likely 1" or 1.5" dowels for bracing, all baltic birch 3/4" double top baffel, fiberglass insides, small 45's in the corners id like to get a lower tune out of it but im unsure if i even have the space for the subs?? i know i dont know much about box calculations but, i will be paying someone for a reputable box desgin with all the cut list etc.. no room for error! the system will be powered by 3- AQ 3500.1d's that leaves it with roughly 1,200 to 1,400 per sub (dual 2ohm subs) wiring the voice coils in series them self, and the 3 subs in parralel for a load of 1.33 ohms on each amp thanks for the help! blake *2013 NEW BUILD* 12- 18" Crossfire XS v2's B pillar 4th order wall 4- Crossfire 8K mono blocks 40+ pro audio mids tweeters and horns 3- Singer alternator 400a external regulated alts tons of audiotechnix wire 24- XS Power D1400's -TEAM XS POWER- -TEAM CROSSFIRE- -TDH-
EricR Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Yes you have enough space, I would do about 360 sqin of port, tuned to ~32hz. That would be about ~26 cuft after port. And you have enough room on top to do 3 across and 3 back. Should be pretty loud. i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
trulywickedcustoms Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 -thanks for the quick response!! and yea thats why i decided on the 9 it made for a good ohm load split between 3 amps and i can keep the subs neat and tidy by 3 deep and 3 wide! i was just unsure on airspace and tune hz... is the 1,200 per ssd to much? -and the other question i had, was if any one has any thoughts on if the 9 15" ssds would be louder (ground pounder not number thrower) than 4 18 FI BTL fully loaded on 2 AQ 3500.1d's roughly 2,100 per btl?? i just like the 9 15" bc it doesnt seem sor norm like the usually system you always see in the tahoes and burbans thanks agn *2013 NEW BUILD* 12- 18" Crossfire XS v2's B pillar 4th order wall 4- Crossfire 8K mono blocks 40+ pro audio mids tweeters and horns 3- Singer alternator 400a external regulated alts tons of audiotechnix wire 24- XS Power D1400's -TEAM XS POWER- -TEAM CROSSFIRE- -TDH-

OldsBoomer Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 If your looking to play a little lower i'd try the Fi Q's from what testing i've done on the subs. The Q's with the more xmax in my cases(yes all are different) were able to give more at the lower end. Now i did give the SSD'd my AQ 3500.1 granted the speaker wire was extremely long(from my truck to my friends truck). It was at .7 ohms nomial and i dno what rise was but they finally came to live with the power i was able to give them. I still think the Q's are a little better for the low end. its to bad you couldn't fit 6 18's lol but 9 15's is bound to be SICK! i cant wait to see this. Suburban Coming Soon

trulywickedcustoms Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 i was actually thinking about doing 6 18" but if i go that route then the back of the box (port exit) will be super close to the hatch within 3" id say... too close IMO ? anyways im thinking the 9 15" will get it done! and its alittle easier on the bank to buy a few at a time *2013 NEW BUILD* 12- 18" Crossfire XS v2's B pillar 4th order wall 4- Crossfire 8K mono blocks 40+ pro audio mids tweeters and horns 3- Singer alternator 400a external regulated alts tons of audiotechnix wire 24- XS Power D1400's -TEAM XS POWER- -TEAM CROSSFIRE- -TDH-
