As posted awhile back I bought my brothers subs and amp, he bought (and was using) the exact same HU that I have, but the bass was really good in his car with bass boost on the amp all the way off and when I hooked them up to my car you could hear almost nothing even with the volume all the way up and your head right by the subs. I had to put bass boost all the way up for it to actually hit and I can tell its really wearing on them now so what could the problem be?

Subs are 2 12" Xplode and the amp is a Kenwood KAC-8105d

EDIT: He said he didnt mess with any of the amp controls either

Its the Jensen UV10 dvd HU. Its hooked to the normal amp out (unsure what to do for the sub out since its only one rca). It does have bass gain but IIRC its not much and since my dad messed up on the box I cant access my screen to adjust that.

How are the subs wired?

In a way I dont understand and I think isnt right at all but the guy at best buy wired it and my brothers friend (who apparently knows a lot about car audio) said its the way he would have wired it. The amp speaker wire goes to one sub, and then a second wire goes from that sub to the other.

lol wait a second wire? just one or actually a piece of speaker wire that has 2 conductors a pos and neg? also check the phase of your woofers it sounds like you have a phase issue. pop your speakers with a cordless drill battery to make sure they are botrh moving outward. also use a rca y adapter on your sub out

Nooo, its a second speaker wire haha.

What do you mean pop my speakers? Im still learning.

Do you think going from the normal amp out to the sub out would really make that much of a difference? Btw, I know for a fact his wasnt on the sub out but Id be willing to do it of course.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is the head unit control for the sub.

Other than than that, the amp takes a signal from anything you hook up to it and if you notice, it has a frequency range which also picks up voices if you set it high enough

I had my amp hooked up to the rear outs and now it's on the sub out. sounds the same.

tl;dr if your head unit has sub control you're going to want it on the sub pre-out. heck, just hook it up right...

i suck men dry...email me for details

Well whenever I can find someone to build me a box for my stereo I will be able to do that, need the screen to set it up

You really should check your wiring. First the grounds and rcas. Then the wiring under the hood, power, and ground to the amp. Then the subwoofer wiring. What are the voicecoil configurations of the subs?

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Well I will admit I need to make a better ground connection just havent had the time due to weather, work etc.

And honestly, I have no idea what the configurations are/how to find them
