sierra mist
Should I use in-wall speakers or on-wall speakers with brackets?
Guest MegaloManiac
id say on wall with brackets, so you can position them to your needs acoustically
Apollopimp
i say in wall looks much nicer and will sound much better.. if you have the money get Polk they even have a sub woofer that mounts under your house in the joists and from inside looks like a air vent.. there really nice speakers. http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/hidden/

kingsuv
I too would stay away from in wall setups. Yeah they look nice and clean but they will limit you on the sound I think you are looking for. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. sierra mist
I really want to do this myself. The A/V store talking about $130 an hour just to run the speaker wires for surround sound.
kingsuv
I really want to do this myself. The A/V store talking about $130 an hour just to run the speaker wires for surround sound. They give you a quote on how long it would be expected to take? 130 isn't bad if it's done in a couple of hours. is the house 1 or 2 story? Also, how is it laid out? Can you get into the attic and to the wall where the system is going to go? If you have attic access and have the system on a inside wall it will make it eaiser to fish wires through the walls. Give me a layout with some details and maybe we can help ya out. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes.
