fr34kout
I didn't say anything about the resistance of a coil? I agree with what you said but that way you worded it is a little off lol. I look at the whole system as impedance rise, so yes bigger wire will drop your impedance rise. It won't have any effect on the impedance rise due to your box design, or box rise but as a complete system the impedance rise will drop ever so slightly. AMI CUSTOMS
I have been trying to understand for years what affects what and in what ratio, all I do know for sure is the more "peaky" your box is, the higher your imp rise will be. Hell even just changing the distance the sub is from the rear of the box will change the imp rise and keep tuning the same. So volume doesn't really affect it that much, I "think" it has to do with the mech properties of the driver, some woofers will have greater rise then others. So are you saying changing power wire to your amp will change imp rise, because if you are, there is no way. fr34kout
I know I've seen Jacob post things such as aluminum shorting rings that are supposed to help with impedance rise, but I can honestly say I've never tried to change box dimensions and done tests myself, only clamped my own boxes to see where my rise was. fr34kout
I'm saying exactly what you said, if you go from something like 8ga power wire to 1/0 power wire the impedance *may* change ever so slightly because the wire itself will have lower resistance. I showed the numbers for a 1000 ft run to show how small of a change something like this would be. I don't think it would change with your input wires, but I believe it would with output wires. The change however would be so nill that it's not even worth trying to calculate it.

SPLadd1ct
So according to your testing, would it be a safe statement to say that a SPL box tuned at 48 hertz would most likely have a higher impedance rise than a daily box tuned at 34 hertz? Assuming the driver and such are all equal. 2011 Ford Ranger Sport 4.0 v6 2 sundown audio prototype nsv4 15s crossfire 4k wired to 0.4 ohm 15 banks of maxwell 3.0 caps @ 18v triple alts (x2 us alt 250's, x1 singer 320) 153 at 23hz

zfrerichs
Box volume can effect impedance rise. Were talking about impedance rise on your subs. Not the resistance from your battery to your amplifer. Roseville, CA
