Impedance rise vs wire thickness

Hello,

I will soon be running a sundown 3500D to a IA Warden 15" subwoofer in my Hyundai Tiburon GT. Electrical will be a Mechman 220 amp alternator, a XS power D2400 up front, two XS power D3100's in the back. If I chose 3/0 gauge kicker wire over for example Knukonceptz 1/0 gauge wire would I have less impedance rise? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I just wanna double check with you guys to make sure everything is right! The IA Warden 15" sub has 1.4 ohm DVC's and will be wired in parallel to see a theoretical 0.7 ohm load just for reference. Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Changing power wire won't affect imp rise, box construction will.

thats what i was thinking. does size of speaker wire affect it too? so bout the slight thread jack there

Thicker wire will have less resistance from one end to another, but theoretically it shouldn't make that much of a difference as long as you secure everything correctly.

Impedance of 1/0 wire for a 1000 ft run = 0.09827 ohms.

Impedance of 3/0 wire for a 1000 ft run = 0.06180 ohms.

Bigger wire gives you a bigger cross section and allows you to carry more current. You could run 3/0 from front battery to back batteries, and then 1/0 to the amp. That or multiple runs of 1/0, which ever you decided would be a great choice.

Only thing it will change is overall resistance, not your imp rise directly, but indirectly if that makes sense. So if you are like rising to 4 ohm from 1 ohm and you are using 16 gauge wire and go to 8 gauge wire you may see a slight difference, but the imp rise difference will be the same, it would now look something like .9 to 3.9 for example. you are still rising the same amount. If you where wired in parrellel then for every .1 drop it would be half lower. So .1 drop in overall resistance would be .1*.1/ .1+.1 = .05 difference, so .95 to 3.95

How is changing power wire going to change the resistance of a coil? Just curious.

Hmmm so that's what people meant when they said "box rise". You mean box construction as in volume? Tuning frequency? What affects what and in what proportion? For example does increasing the box volume decrease the impedance rise? Very interesting stuff here, I had no idea that the box construction would have any effect on the electrical resistance!

Those are the million dollar questions that the pros try to answer right there. All those things above you mentioned affect imp rise.
