How Much Port Area?

Since you have enough room, go with 35-40 sqin tuned to 30 Hz.

And FYI - port area is not related to box volume.

Wait... I'm so confused. Is it 35-40 cubic inches?

I might just give up on this... my head is :trippy:

Come on guys... I am a noob... Make it really simple for me... I'm 12 after all.

Yep, too much different info it seems to read it all and understand it. Have you decided whether you're doing slot, round, flared port?

Too much misinformation. General rule is this.

Square/slot port is 12-16sqin of area PER CUBIC FOOT

9-11sqin for aero ports

General rule no? So we can change it up a little maybe add some cross-sectional area or leave it the same. OP is not looking for general, he's looking for a good sound quality enclosure.

Bandpass then. Or sealed. I'm not gonna fight. I said general rules. People use 20sqin and have awesome results. It differs for each woofer hence the word general

it's not small. it's cross sectional area. square inches

if i were telling you overall port volume i woulda said cubic inches

what you want is say. 30 square inches of slot port for 2.5 cubes, that's 10x3xhowever long you need for your tuning as an example.

30 divided by 2.5 is 12 so that's at the bottom of the range.

i already explained it simply. would you like a diagram? i think my 6 year old son gets it...

no i just explained it to him, he does get it. i gave him the same wording i gave you.

Ok, so I could do 8 X 4? And then how deep does it have to be?

Typically for a SQ type ported enclosure I do 8-12sq in of port per cube and tune from 25Hz-30Hz, Ive had excellent results with that.
