sqsux
I told myself I wouldn't make a build log, but I guess I'm going to. I'm going to keep it short and simple, and I'll take any criticism, questions, and tips along the way. To start, the car : 1999 Mazda Protege And now equipment Headunit: Pioneer AVH-4100 Subs(1 as of now): dc audio xl 18 temp amp: AQ2200 My last build was an 18 in about 6 cubes total, ported, tuned to 35 iirc. I was sad when I had to do this Start out boxy, shape as you move along. Dc Audio Team Fur
sqsux
But it was worth it, on to the actual build pictures(still in progress) First I took out my seats and made this makeshift base, made sure to fill every open pocket with foam. (I didn't get any pictures when I finished this, sorry.) Then I got my rear and bottom pieces mocked up to make sure my measurements were right before I continued cutting. Finished cutting and began building. I wanted to see how far back I could sit, so I kind of just leaned one of the baffles in it's spot. Door panels(first time, no laughing)I didn't know how to use body filler when I started, so I CAKED it on. I finally got sick of sanding and just threw black primer over them, I'm going to buy another set of components and redo them after I finish school and start work again next week. I think that's all the picture's I have for now, I have some make-shift bracing I didn't bother taking a picture of, so that I could at least hear what just one 18 sounded like. Videos(they're crappy, only time I can get them is after 5): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp_QC5tIFcw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp_QC5tIFcw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgJ_NurDY1Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgJ_NurDY1Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PeSZdlNiwc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PeSZdlNiwc Start out boxy, shape as you move along. sqsux
VERY decent build. congrgats haha! thanks, I think it's terrible compared to most peoples builds, be it a wall or not. but hey, this was my first time cutting by myself. I think I'm going to pull a steve and glass the wall up to my b pillars, I really don't know of anything else to do, and I'd like everything to "flow" together, I should have more progress within two weeks. sqsux
Next time. Build a sturdy frame to build the enclosure into. VERY beneficial and adds strength like none other. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I was sitting there starring back there for a while wondering "how the hell do I build the frame for this" I couldn't find any build logs where someone posted anything about the frame of their wall, I also didn't look that hard either. sqsux
Looks good man, Can't wait to hear it. chyea. I'm stupid and abused the wall with one baffle and barely any bracing, it has bracing now but I noticed I blew the lower corner out. it's mostly because I mounted and unmounted the sub so much with huge deck screws, not a big deal though. should have updates around christmas. oh yea, today was graduation day! kind of. what do you guys use to mount such big woofers?
