Austin Hart Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 The AP's Can take a 1 ohm load. i have ran mine daily @ 1. With impedance rise it sees well over 1.4, which is the cutoff for the amp to go into protect. i ran it on a single 15" BL. and it never got the sub smoking or anything, hardly ever got really hot. and i would compare the BL and lvl 4 to be similer. i know everyone is saying lvl 5 coils, which is a good idea. but if you are on a budget i would say AP, and just turn it down a little.... there not all that efficiant in power. if your looking for 1200-1500 watt amp on a budget. Audiopipe makes an AP1500 as well. the 3k is just two of them strapped...
dionysus Posted December 13, 2010 Author Report Posted December 13, 2010 The standard level 4 will handle 1000-1250 with no problems as long as it is clean power. If you add the level 5 coils, then they will handle around 1500w. If you are going to get the ap3k then I would get and XL, which will handle 2000+ watts. If you are set on the Level 4, then I would look into a 2000w amp. Oh so the AP1500 would be ok for it even? CJ dont you have a xl 18 for sale? I dont remember how much you wanted tho. Or I could even get the ap3k and run it down low and get another 18 lvl 4 and run 2 on it? I didnt know the Ap amps were that powerful but thats cool to know! Thank you for the help! and ive heard that the 3k is just 2 of the AP 1500 strapped also, But hell if I can run a AP1500 on 1 lvl4 18 thatd be great too cause the AP1500s are cheap! I just never heard much about the AP amps before Build log link, (Slow Build) http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183469-dionysuss-02-eddie-bauer-explorer-slow-budget-build-sundown-4-chan-guts-pg-4/ Team AB son!
