AcIdBuRn02ZTS
Hey guys... I just finished building a new setup for my 03 tahoe and need advice on powering it properly... Currently, I'm running around 1800rms @ 1ohm to 2 re audio 18s... Charging system is currently stock... 140amp alt. and ac delco battery under the hood... At full tilt, the volt gauge drops hard and fast to under 12v so I shut it down quick to keep from killing the alt. and battery... I plan on picking up a dc or mechman 200+ amp alt in the near future and need to know what batteries I can run in the back of the truck to support the future amp (which will be in the neighborhood of 3-4kwrms @ 1ohm) Ive got ~11.25"w on both sides of the port at the back of my box for battery mounting... plus quite a bit of room under the hood... not sure how big I can go in the stock tray... So.. what would you suggest? I like to play it at idle sometimes at full tilt for short lengths to show off and what not... or while sitting around in parking lots with other people... so on... but mostly it doesnt get hammered on unless driving. AcIdBuRn02ZTS
a d3100 wont fit in the back... its too wide... the d3100 is 12.5+" wide and Ive only got 11.25" to work with... however I can run 2 batteries of that size... -Chris Quote 03' Black Z71 Tahoe 3" Lift / 315/70/R17 Goodyear Duratracs Eclipse AVN6620 Touchscreen Head Unit Hifonics BRX3016 - 3krms @ 1ohm 2 RE Auido SX 18s - 14.5^3ft net @ 30hz w/ 200^2in. port120hp Cummins 4bta Swap
Nathan @ XSpower
D3400 under the hood in the stock location, or if you want to do some fabrication to the stock battery position you can fit a D3100 in there. The D3100 is only 6.81" wide, so it should fit in the back. I would suggest running a D3100 in the back, because as almost everyone does you will upgrade to more power down the road. The D3100 will give you room to grow.
AcIdBuRn02ZTS
Well... I wanted to run atleast 2 bats in the back... so would 2 d3100s be best? I guess I can run them turned on their sides and fit them... just didnt know if there was a better choice that would fit right side up.. So... could I run a single d3100 up front and maybe two slightly smaller bats in the back... something 11.25" long or shorter? Let me know what you think -Chris Edited December 20, 2010 by AcIdBuRn02ZTS Quote 03' Black Z71 Tahoe 3" Lift / 315/70/R17 Goodyear Duratracs Eclipse AVN6620 Touchscreen Head Unit Hifonics BRX3016 - 3krms @ 1ohm 2 RE Auido SX 18s - 14.5^3ft net @ 30hz w/ 200^2in. port120hp Cummins 4bta Swap
Nathan @ XSpower
You are limited in the back by the width or length? In your posts above you said width, but in the last post you refer to length. If you are limited to 11.25" in length, then I would run the 3400s in the back or if you have a little more room the 6500s in the back. The D6500 is 11.8" long. Yes, if you don't mind modding your factory set up you would be ok running a D3100 up front and then two smaller ones in the back. If you don't want to worry with the modifications, then I would just run the 3400 under the hood and two in the back if you want. AcIdBuRn02ZTS
Hmm... Here are my measurements... The box is 49" wide... port is 26.5" wide... leaving me 11.25" on both sides of the port to work with.. I was thinking width above but its length that I'm worried about... I would be turning the batteries sideways and running them on both sides of the port.. So.. its looking like a single 3100 under the hood and twin 3400s or 6500s(if I can squeeze them in) in the back... should give me plenty of room to grow. Thanks for the advice -Chris Quote 03' Black Z71 Tahoe 3" Lift / 315/70/R17 Goodyear Duratracs Eclipse AVN6620 Touchscreen Head Unit Hifonics BRX3016 - 3krms @ 1ohm 2 RE Auido SX 18s - 14.5^3ft net @ 30hz w/ 200^2in. port120hp Cummins 4bta Swap
