Ok guys, Not sure if you follows this post, but heres my update.

I went to the speaker store for you florida guys its called skycraft in orlando.

I bought about 30ft of 8ga since it was so damn cheap. Got me some 8ga red power wire and i got some nice blue color 8ga power wire.

Got home, come to find out my mojos speaker terminals were too small....SOB.

So i drive bback 45 min to skycraft and bought 60ft of 10ga, once again because it was so cheap, i think i paid 8$ with tax, it was like 25c a foot. cant beat that place.

Drove home, got to wiring, SOB it doesnt fit. So i spent 20 mins on each sub cramming and making it fit.

Got my system in, and it slams. Too bad its only 850watts because i can only wire the subs to .5 ohm or 2ohm, my amp cant handle .5 ohm :| but at 2ohm it puts out 850watts so thats ALRIGHT.

NOW, the amp keeps switching to protection mode... Dont know why, but I can get about 2 mins of good slammin bass before it clicks over, then 2 seconds later itll click off. I think its only on certain HTZ notes, but im not sure, i thought it could possibly be the speaker wire, since when i had it wired with the 16ga speaker wire it switched to protection mode a LOT more often, now it barely does it.

I had a few ideas as follows:

1. Need a 1/0 ground ( all I had was 2ga when I was doing the install of the amp. The power wire is 1/0 )

2. Speaker wire still isnt big enough ( doesnt make sense because the subs are not even being pushed to theyre full potential but the wire cant fit? )

3. Amp is getting too warm.

I am going to fix number 1 first, see if that helps, if not, I was going to do number 3, do you guys have any ideas how to keep my amp any cooler? It is mounted on the back of my rear seat in the civic.

Thanks Guys!

amp can be cutting off from low voltage. what voltage are you dropping to? what ohm load? what amplifier? (model number, no just "hifonics 2600 watt") and what subwoofers (also model numbers)

The absolute lowest voltage I was seeing is about 13v. I have a XS D6500 battery in the back.

The subs are wired at 2ohm. And the amp is a Soundstream EGA1700D ( my system specs are in my sig )

The subs are Memphis Mojo M3 10"s the model number is 15-M3104D

Thanks

do you have 1/0 power?

Yes, It says that by number 1 (: LOL.

I was thinking it could be because my ground is #2 and my power wire is 1/0 but I am not sure, the amp doesn't physically feel too hot. Doesnt feel hot at all.

Not sure how a circuit breaker would really fix that...theyre also not too good for your system from what I have heard. Could be wrong, but I prefer fuses.

What kranny said. Fix the ground wire, should be same size as the power wire for sure. As stated, whats your volatage drop beating on it for like 30 seconds? If you're dropping down below 12v chances are thats what it is. Also, what are the subs model numbers, link to them?

Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that :( any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van.
