AMI CUSTOMS
Like has been said you want equal runs of ground as power, the copper is far superior in conductance to the steel frame, if you ground to frame you want that as short as possible. You also what your amp grounds as short as possible, less resistance, equals less heat, HEAT is the ENEMY!!!! LOL And the more runs of cable you do the better distribution of current you will have, you have less resistance, because there is more metal, and it is better conductive metal(copper or silver tinned). Your alts will work less to produce proper voltage and respond faster to voltage drop, since you have more paths for the current to flow. THEKINGsBACK
thats what i would do. but! if you cant afford neg runs you can use the frame as wire. same amount of negs as pos does it matter how long the runs are if you ground to the frame? in the front i went from back of alt straight down to frame 18" total 3 runs of 0g on each side of motor. then in back i went from my batterys through the floor to frame maybe 2ft. 6 runs also i have steady voltage for pulling 800+ amps so your grounded with runs from the front to back and in the back your grounded to the frame? Quote he wouldnt be the first to say they did a 167 with a system like that (one that clearly DOESNT), but i have to say, he didnt beat me anywhere, ive never competed against the guy. If he thinks his does a 167, mine would probably put him in a coma. :hairtrick:
Justin
Makes more sense now. Thanks guys! I'm gonna run more ground straight off the back of the alts..
