anthonyott99 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Alright fella's, i already have a Powerbass asa 600.2 amp powering my 2 Hifonics 12's. When i am really thrashin them i get a little light dimming. I have done the big 3 with 2 gauge and have a 130 amp alternator(new) and i am fixing to install my JVC 600 watt to run my front stage. So my question is , do i need to upgrade in your opinion ? Cant afford the expensive alt's but i could afford to add a second battery if that would help ? Opinions please !!! P.s. - Do i add the battery by just hooking the positive and negative to my underhood batteries positive and negative ?

Yes you just connect both pos and neg from front to back, but fuse both ends of the power run. 2006 Nissan Z Track. AGM is "absorbed glass mat" it means all of the chemicals required for the reaction to take place are fully absorbed into the batteries cells, so they can't spill, and they don't give off hydrogen and other extremely flammable/toxic gasses, like a typical starter battery does. In addition, most AGM batteries (all used in car audio) are deep cycle, meaning they can FULLY Discharge and FULLY recharge. Unlike a starter battery, that once dead, will have a shorter life span, as well as not being able to fully recharge. Also, deep cycle batteries, although expensive, will outlast a standard battery usually with almost double the life span. Adding a second battery is an option, just wire it in parallel with your starter battery, or use a bus bar. OR you can simply replace your starter battery with an AGM deep cycle battery.
