matt14 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 So I'm about to order a new battery for my yukon. This will be a replacement and the only battery I will be running. My system has about 1500rms. I was going to go with a D1200, but after some thinking, i may be going with a 3400. So I saw that they have a S and D 3400 and was wondering what the differance is between the two? The only thing that i can see is that the S model has a steel case and the D has a re-inforced plastic case. When researching the D1200, they recomended to go with what seemed to be a sheet metal case to keep the battery cool from engine heat. So if I order a S3400, i should be good then right. matt14 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Report Posted January 20, 2011 So what about this sheet metal case that they recomend? Is it worth it? I can get from Jegs a s3400 shipped for about 250 and thats the cheapest i found shipped. They dont have the d3400 Quote 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-3
crunkjuice1 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 My S3400 came with no case maybe built in it but don't really know. The other difference from S and D versions is that the S versions come with the battery posts and the D doesn't unless you order them. Quote
crunkjuice1 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 you will be fine with just the battery and maybe the XS Power 589 to expand connections to the battery. I got mine from jegs also! Damn good battery. Quote
Nathan @ XSpower Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 As said above the S3400 and D3400 are the same exact battery. Only differences are the S3400 has red decals and comes with automotive posts. The D3400 has blue decals and comes with hardware to run ring terminals. If you would rather have the blue decals and run it under the hood with automotive terminals, then you can purchase a set of 580 SAE Automotive Posts. If you are running side posts then you may want to look at the 551 or 555 iBar kits. If you have any other questions just let me know. Quote
matt14 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 So i just got done installing the S3400. I did order the ibar kit. Had to run some new 1/0 for the alt and amp wire. See how it is tommorrow. A littl to late to crank it up tonight Quote 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-3
JasonJ Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 So does this battery work with a alternator setup for drop in replacement for a flooded acid battery? Quote
