HHR Ed
So the bottom of the pole is hollow and has cooling holes horizontal? Yup, that's pretty much it. Ford302Redneck
That's what I originally thought, but way you described it, didn't sound like it. Interesting design. How much strength difference between, soild pole, vented pole, and this design? Also, how is that cooling compared to have a traditional pole vent? How much strength difference between, soild pole, vented pole, and this design? Also, how is that cooling compared to have a traditional pole vent? The same motor with a standard vented pole was consistently a few tenths lower in SPL setups. Avg. was 0.3dB. A full solid pole with no vents is secret But would not run as long on super high power for ground pounding purposes. So this design was the best of both worlds. Cooling is just as good, or better than standard pole vent. By a small margin. Top of the coil stays cool when out of the gap. So the heat that builds on the bottom is blown out of the bottom. Ford302Redneck
Secret eh? I hear ya. Lol. Still nice design. It seems smart, but I haven't tested each design to know the different personally, so I have to take your word. I would love to be able to design and test subs. I'm getting really interested in R&D. Not that I want my own subs, I just like that sort of thing.

There are so many things I have in design or concept phase that will take years to develop, simply because I dont have the time or budget to R & D them. Luckily with this, JD has been messing with this motor for a few years now. nCOMP1337
I think I come to SMD now to hear the science behind subs more than anything , lol I enjoy reading almost any post form Ed, nick, jacob, ray and few others that have given some insight into the behind the scenes of subs and installation

There are more guys to learn from. Just gotta find them. A bunch of smart dudes have taught me, without even knowing it. And They are still teaching. Ford302Redneck
Yeah, I agree, plenty of smart people out there. I've learned A LOT from one guy, I won't say his name, but he knows this industry well. But, you also have to watch out, not all the guys you would think know a lot, actually don't. I know a few companies, the owners just don't know what they should. They fool a lot of people, I'm waiting on other people to actually catch on to it. But glad you took the time to explain Ed. I'm sure somebodies else will be glad you explained this.

And They are still teaching. i understand thats why i added the few others part, because i couldnt remember everyones name i remember you cause of showtime spl and the on going chat abotu hopefully getting subs one day, lol ray form a chat about wave theory in chat jacob because many of his vids and hanks super backing of him, lol (hopefully soon ill be getting a demo form hank) and many others such as sanitarium, kandiman, kingsuv, grim, iceman, etc. etc., all these people have been a helping hand in my quest for my first proper build just not all intrigue me as much as the ones that try to explain the science behind how car audio works and various applications and best uses of those applications, there are not enough places that explain the science and such behind it where it can be understood by a lot of people, i applaud those who can as the quote says in NDMstangs sig, "If you cannot explain it somply enough, you do not understand it well enough." ~Albert Einstein I think said it or something to that effect... im ana dvocate for the notion that anything can be taught to anyone, you just have to know how to explain it on their level, i know there is more to it then that though
Ford302Redneck
One good think about Nick(NDMstang65), when he explains something, he always used a analogy that anybody can understand.
