It was difficult but definitely doable. It was all a learning experience for me. The only info I went off of was build logs on here and a buddy on facebook. I wanted to use the pocket on the bottom of the panel as the molding for the back of the pods but I cut too much off. The hardest part for me on the pods was actually the filler to smooth it out. Part of the reason I am wrapping it instead of painting

How many of the 6 1/2s do you have? if you're doing sealed pods like mine you will really only be able to fit 1 speaker down there. I can't shift my seats fully forward or they hit the grille with my 5.25s. And I'm just about at the limit with mounting depth so I couldn't make the pods any more shallow than they are. I will say if I do fiberglass doors again I will most likely just fabricate them to the doors and Not do sealed pods again

It's been slow but steadily coming along. Running low on second skin so I just ordered some more today. Also ordered their thermal insulation. Going to make a small heat shield for my XS under the hood.....it is slightly swollen

Oh by the way I have access to a drill press and taps and dies so I was wanting to make my own battery terminal blocks for the d6500 under the hood....Where do I buy the blocks of metal? And what metal do you guys use? copper? aluminum? stainless?

Annnnnd this is my daily drive so everyhting I did at work has to be stored in the back. This is without the floor carpet yet.....Thankfully I live within 1 mile from my job so it is a very short drive.

I am to the point where I have the carpet back in and the front seats in. Put Damp on the floor everywhere then ran my wiring through the factory routing port thingy on both sides. Oh also labeled my wires for the first time which makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Just used my wife's label maker and clear heat shrink.

IMG_2928.jpg

Ran my new RCA's this time around from Knukonceptz. I didn't know that I bought the kind that comes with a remote wire in the center of the RCA's. I only need one but oh well.

IMG_2931.jpg

IMG_2930.jpg

Learned a valuable lesson though...On the passenger side I spent over an hour taping my speaker wires to a dowel rod and a skinny long wire and running it from front to back in the factory wiring "tunnel". Only to get to the driver side finally and I got frustrated and was a little too rough and turns out the roof pops open so I could have just laid the wire in their neatly instead of all the probing! I wasted so much time I was PISSED. Like I said though lesson learned for next time, and it gave me some more room to vacuum nasty crap out of crevices and whatnot

Got a lot done today. Trying to get everything looking perfect. I want to build this thing up to a level worthy of SOTM. I have one idea looming to try out that I have not seen others do here that I think will peak some interest in this build...we will see. So I ran my RCAs to my eq a little better than before, installed the 4 chans, and decided on where to put the d1200....I was going to look into having a metal mount fabricated on the passenger side under the hood. There is definitely a big open spot there for a battery but after what I found today I changed my mind.

IMG_2933.jpg

Oh and the mdf used for mounting the 4 chans have been painted they just look the same. I have rustoleum camo tan spray paint laying around and coated them in that for protection....Same with the adapters I made for the 6.5s going in the stock location back in May.

All that room in between the amps!!! Should have canked the storage box that was there 3 years ago.

IMG_2942.jpg

the d1200 fits perfectly there. No issue whatsoever with clearance against the seat

IMG_2943.jpg

and I actually have room for a second which I just bought....should be here Friday. I measured and can fit 3 if I turn them sideways but don't want to do that
