meade916
I couldn't stand the thought of having raw carpet in a trunk full of leather and suede. The problem is, the trunk lid carpet is just that, molded carpet. It is too flimsy to just "wrap" in leather. It would just pull away and look like shit....wouldn't even work. So i decided to make it strong by fiberglassing the back side of it. That worked great except....being carpet, and flimsy, it gave way when the trunk was shut (when it hit my other stuff). Once i glassed it, it gave no more and guess what......trunk would not shut AGAIN. LOL.....so now i gotta do something about it. The two large holes are where it was bubbled out "stock". I had to grind them down to nothing and then re-glass flat. If you look at the pics, there is heavy modifications done to it. I wanted to do it in two pieces but ended up bonding the first (original piece) to the new, fiberglassed trunk "carpet". meade916
I had to make some adjustments to the trunk lid piece due to it changing shape a little during the process. Its fixed and already dropped off at the upholsterer! Leather with french seams at the curves, like the rest of it. Time to do something about this ugly thing...the rear plastic trim. I flattened it out and dropped it off as well. It will also be leather with blue french seam at the 90 degree turn. Should look super clean! Had to prep up the "grocery plugs" for some black suede. I beveled it and sanded them down so they should fit snug after they are wrapped. The piece up against the wall that covers the plexi will have an F logo embroidered in it like the back of the box does. this is an all picture, no talk thread.....please click here to leave a comment http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141999-lexus-is-f-sound-system-install-wiring-trim-panels-leatherfrench-seam-61112/page__st__860 thanks! meade916
Time for some wiring. Fans, LED Controller, RGB terminal strips, and a remote bottle opener for the NOS. I decided not to use the supplied rocker switch and went with one of the 4 available wireless switches i have instead. Also, SPECIAL THANKS to Snafu from CE AutoElectric (and my good friend) for making me this sweet temprature switch!! This thing is adjustable and turns the fan system on at a predetermined temp (and kicks them back off) rather then me having to worry about remembering to do it. Thanks Tony! Time for a trip to Radio Shack to make the other stuff work too. Each one of these terminals will have wires on it when the LED strips are installed. I color coded it all so it will all go on fast when i am ready to install them. I designed this to be easy to pull out, work on, and put back. I left myself extra power outputs for future expansion. thats all for today! All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
While i wait for the trunk lid piece to be upholstered, which is the housing for the 3sixty.3, i decided to mock it up in its spot and run the wires for proper length. I also finally installed all the rest of the wiring on the amps. All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
of course with the plexi and trim panels, you wont see any of the wiring other then where it enters the amp. All this is hidden. Yes the wiring up here isn't pretty YET. I am just mocking this up for proper wire length. I had to leave slack in it so it can pass through the back of the trim panel and where it needs to be once i get that piece on. So its all just "hanging out" waiting on the trunk lid piece. Friday i hope! please leave comments here! thanks! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141999-lexus-is-f-sound-system-install-tedious-wiring-61912/page__pid__2063315__st__900#entry2063315 1 All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Now again, remember, its REAL Leather. Not vinyl, not pleather. The "texture" of it didn't come from a machine, it came from a cow. So if it doesn't have that "perfect" look, that's why. Sean did a great job considering all the curves and the leather does NOT stretch or give. Tomorrow i put it on the trunk lid and run the wires that are already ready to go Tonight, i relax although i really wanna go back and put it on 2 All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Woke up early and headed out to the shop......this piece gave me such a headache when building it, i couldn't wait to close the chapter on it LOL. Of course, there is a lot more to it then just slapping it in. The wires had to be ran with the hinges and somehow invisible. There is so many i lost count so it would be no easy task. Watch the rest of the pics to see how i did it.....actually worked well 14 stock speakers in this car (7.1), all wires cut and ran to the 3sixty.3 via High Level input, 8 channels of RCA going out, 1 cat-5, 1 USB, power, ground, remote in, remote out......all ran behind the hinges. It was a challenge but i got lucky there is a reason i built the mounting location so much bigger then the actual processor. RCAs, USB, Cat 5 and the Bluetooth dongle all had to fit. Inputs needed room too for that matter. Bluetooth BARELY fits this is an all picture, no talk build-thread.
