BboyTaktix
So, after much thought, I have begun thinking about very basic electrical upgrades. For those tuned in, your thoughts are much appreciated. I contacted mechman to see if I could get a slightly upgraded alternator (such as 170A). They replied informing me that they do not make an alternator for my specific year model, but that I should be fine with just a battery upgrade for the power I am running (1200-1400RMS max). So I began looking into batteries, I think my best bet would be a Kinetik HC1400 to replace my stock battery as well as doing a big 3 upgrade on my stock alt. I think that should do me well and strengthen my electrical enough for my system. Keep in mind I don't do competitions or shows, it's really just a daily driver system and I don't leave it cranked for long amounts of time. Found some HC1400's on eBay for around $239 shipped to Canada, so far that's the cheapest I could find. Looked around for local dealers of any types of batteries (xs, kinetik) and found nothing. 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)
BboyTaktix
Also, I have been thinking about the aero port idea and am now considering it as an option, but I would probably only get about 1.3-1.4 ft cubed in terms of box size, and I'm not exactly sure how to tune for aero ports. Just not sure if it would be worth it over a sealed enclosure of around 0.8-1cu ft. Hard to get feedback on how these subs sound sealed vs ported for my box size. Insight into this would be appreciated. 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)
BboyTaktix
Okay, picked up the final few things needed for my build two nights ago; -0 AWG to 4AWG reducer (to go into the 4AWG exit of fused distr. block to my mono amplifier) -two 12V fans (going to use these for amp cooling on amp rack) -10-gauge wire for mono amp to subwoofer connection (should be enough, right?) -50ft more 14-gauge wire in case I run out for passenger side speakers (only wiring left to do) -3 yards automotive carpeting for sub box/amp rack cover -Terminal cup for sub box This should be everything needed besides the MDF to get the build done. Unfortunately UPS is slow as ballz and didn't have my paperwork ready last night for me to go self-clear the item at border services, and I have a bachelor party right after work, so looks like I will have to fuckin wait until Monday to get the sub. But good chance I'll be driving up north to my dads tomorrow to at least build the amp rack, hook up 4-ch amp and install rear speakers. So I'll have highs but no bass for a little while lol. 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)
BboyTaktix
Oh, also decided that I'm going with a sealed box, at least for now. It's easy and quick to build and I've heard these things sound great sealed. Plus it takes up hardly any space. If I don't love it and want a bit more bass/lows I'll rebuild for a ported box eventually. A KHC1400 to replace my stock battery plus big 3 on stock alternator should be fine for the equipment/power i'm running? thanks all and more updates to come 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)

97Jetta1637
you'll be fine, you're not running a lot of power so the kinetik + big 3 you'll be fine. if need be can always do another run from alt to battery. #teamihop Two 12 inch DC XL's Carbon Fiber Cap Stetsom 7k Shell of box / baffle built by me Port / sealing the box by John Hone Fuck midrange Alpine-9886 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177428-97jettas-sql-trunk-wall-loudest-99-buick-century-custom-with-a-one-legged-owner/ price has no influence on how something sounds I told him to move the fucking port. they see me hoppin they stoppin they can't believe im so white and dirty It looks like you got so drunk, that someone came up and stole your leg. Need to start thinking about how to build my amp rack. Plan on putting the two amps in the rear corner of my trunk with a nice MDF cover over them (with a plexi window) but need to figure out best way of securing them to vehicle. 2018 Golf R - Stealth SQ system build - C508GTI front (active), 2x Pioneer Z10LS4, Zapco DSPZ8, Clarion DPX11551 (Mono amp), Pioneer GM-D8604 (front stage amp), Pioneer GM-A3702 (rear fill amp) SOLD! 2011 Subaru STI - 'modest' passive sq system - JBL p660c component (front) JBL P662 (rear) JBL W10GTI (sealed enclosure) 4ch JBL GO1004 (150RMSx4), Clarion DPX11551 mono amp (+-1200RMS@3ohms)
