  1. Atleast you got a vacation! I had to work right through because of changing jobs Got so much to do on my system too.. I'll be looking forward to seeing future progress on the Caddy though!
  2. I try not to use bracing. Just double, triple or even quadruple your wood thickness if you're after SPL. Sometimes internal bracing can hurt.
  3. Angelo is the Australian Rep for dB Drag. He will post you one from his stock which he has in Australia. Shouldn't take more than a week if you live in Sydney.
  4. That's what I was going to suggest. Try doing that with the woofer firing up, also try port to driver's side in that configuration, slide the box all the way back to the rear of the car. I wouldn't even bother venting your ports through the rear deck because it never works for SPL and it's alot more trouble than it's worth.
  5. Go the Termlab. It's recognized as being the world standard, it's damn accurate, easy to use and also reliable. You can also upgrade it later on eg. a second sensor or even RTA if you're into SQ. Wouldn't even considering anything else.
  6. Hit up dbdragracing.com.au and email Angelo, he's the dB Drag representative for Australia. It should cost around $1200-$1400 AUD if you buy through him, for a single sensor setup. We bought ours directly from the USA, through www.termpro.com, saved around $300 or so but it took a little bit longer and was a little more difficult to get it here. You'll also need a Laptop to run the Termlab through of course. Hope this helps and happy metering
  7. If you like Soundstream and massive bass, check the thread I made about my friend's Bassracer he made using Soundstream woofers. Should be right up your alley.
  8. I ran Z1a @ 0.5ohms which would be 5000wrms+ into 10awg cable no problem. That speaker cable should be fine for what you're running. If you were running more than 1000w through the cable I would upgrade to 10-8awg.
  9. How much power, in RMS are you running per amp, and how many runs of speaker cable come from each amp. Could you get a picture of the cable you are using?
  10. Yes upgrading the battery earth cable is also crucial. As mentioned earlier your circuit is on as strong as its weakest link. And infact the circuit does not just include your amp's wires but also the wires coming off the battery. No matter how great your massive amp power cables are and if you have perfect earths up back, if you have a single crappy 8awg factory earth coming off the battery it will be the weakest link in your system rendering all those upgrades near useless . I had five 0awg earths coming off my front battery when I upgraded.
  11. Umm I think DD rates it at 5000wrms @ 1ohm 14.4v but realistically it'd make around 4100wrms 1ohm on 12v. I've just upgraded amps to two Rockford T40001bds now anyway Nah I don't really travel round to comps. It's not much of a competitive car anyway. Edit: Double post, damn, sorry
  12. It's a 1969 Chrysler Valiant Regal Safari if you want all the names Thanks for your comments, guys
  13. Here's some old videos of my wagon I thought I'd share with you guys. It used to have some pretty OK gear in it. 9915 off Z1a 9915 off Z1a excursion Two 9915 off Z1a nasty flex. If I find anymore I'll whack them up there but in the mean time tell me what you guys think
  14. Can be any colour you like as long as it's equal or larger size than your power cable, my earths are blue . Also make the earth as short as possible. How long is it?
  15. Depends on a lot of things but I never like to gamble especially with something as expensive as car audio. When using $3000+ amps you don't skimp on anything at all. Just do it right the first time and you'll never run into problems later
  16. Ok, if you're not already a member, check out the link in my sig and sign up to those forums and you can ask there. There should be heaps of places to get your car metered. Either that or you can drive all the way to Perth to use mine lol I hope I'm not violating any of this site's rules by posting that link, if I am can I mod tell me and I'll remove it..
  17. Small Box - High Power Large Box - Low Power But I wouldn't do anything less than 5 cubes minimum or you're just defeating the purpose of having 18s.
  18. It will still work and it MAY not cause any damage but it's a good practice to get in the habit of making good quality earths. Worst case scenario you can get some seriously bad voltage drop causing your amp to blow.
  19. Hey mate where abouts in Australia are you? Your best bet is to make friends with somebody with a Termlab so you don't have to pay a shop to use one. You make more money a week than I do by the way.
  20. I forgot to add my friend's Suzuki Van. 4cyl 797cc, yes thats 0.7L! It weighed 700KG before the system. We put four 15s and like 9 sheets of of 18mm MDF in that baby. Weighing at over 600KG! Before the wall, top speed: 115km/h After the wall, top speed: 115km/h, although it did take twice as long to get there. You really noticed the difference on steep hills where it just literally died and would only crawl up at walking pace hehe. We did drive it three hours each way to a comp on the other side of the state, full throttle the whole way! Car never missed a beat until it flipped over! But even after then it still drove!
