  1. Just and FYI on the Rams...literally everything including the dash is held on by clips..lol They have got to be the easiest trucks to steal stuff out of, no joke. I can have the inside of my truck ripped about in minutes.
  2. The first two things I do when a car has problems is check the plugs and change the fuel filter. Usually checking the plugs will tell you if it's a fuel related problem. If the plugs aren't discolored, then I move on to the next times. It could be a sensor, but without plugging into an ODB it's hard to say. Have you checked to make sure you pulley's and belt are ok and that the belt isn't slipping?
  3. As I said before.....do not spend the money! Sit on it for at least 6 months. Cause you'll be pissed if you bag the truck, spend the money and then they come knocking on your door saying that they want their money back.
  4. "IF" this ends up being in your favor and you take the money out. A piece of advice. Take the money and stash it for at least 6 months. My wife used to work at a bank and we have seen cases like this before. Keep in mind that the Bank has up to 6 months to dispute this transaction. So you don't want to be caught slippin....if you pull the money out and spend it, then in a couple of months the bank starts a dispute, they WILL want their money back and they will do whatever it takes to get it back. So...don't spend the money.
  5. It's funny that you bring this up cause Headshok and I were chatting yesterday about singapore and he told me that had a lot of this. Maybe he could touch on it, but he said that the idea of SPL over there is to open the trunk and blare as much music into the open as possible..
  6. Though I would normally agree with you that Bullydog has some good parts with decent prices, Headshok is actually looking at a Mitsu-L200 in which isn't even sold in the states. If anyone is aware of any Mitsu diesel upgrade components, I bet he'd appreciate it, unfortunately, I am not aware of any. The only company that I know makes universal upgrades and parts for most diesels is Bosch.
  7. Happy B-day brutha...Hope you have a good one And ehh..where are the pics of the baby dizzle? lol
  8. If gas mileage is your concern, I wouldn't rebuild the 3.3. When you start adding bigger aftermarket parts, your fuel mileage will just get worse.
  9. I've been married over 10 years now and let me tell you, if you want to be with her and love her, you need to support her. Sounds like if this relationship has any chance of working, ya'll need to learn to talk and compromise. If you want her to support your decisions, you need to do the same with hers.
  10. Tell your buddy he was lied to. Trust me..take if from someone who raced diesel trucks for several years. I have first hand experience on what it takes to get a truck up to 750 hp. BTW, between stock hp and a banks biggest package (rated at 140hp) he still wouldn't make 750. He would have to have at least performance tuned bi-turbos, drugs and injections to even come close. I'm not trying to argue with you just set the facts straight is all. People talk hp, but not many can walk the walk. http://www.chevrolet.com/pop/silverado/2008/duramax_en.jsp The available Duramax Diesel 6.6L V8 Turbo engine features: 365 horsepower @ 3200 rpm 660 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1600 rpm Class-leading diesel horsepower and overall torque(1) B5 biodiesel compatibility Glow plugs that warm up quickly — by efficiently converting electricity into heat — which help when starting the truck in low temperatures Common rail fuel injection, a direct-injection system, that utilizes advanced electronics and pilot injection to optimize fuel delivery and help reduce emissions and combustion noise A variable-geometry "smart" turbocharger, located in the valley between the cylinder heads for a compact design, that features computer-controlled turbine vanes and an air-to-air intercooler A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that helps meet strict diesel emissions standards The oil cooler keeps the oil temperature more consistent over the entire operating range Cast-aluminum cylinder heads that feature sintered-steel valve-seat inserts and a four-valve design to help reduce emissions and maximize power 1 Based on 2007 GM Large Pickup segment and latest available competitive information. Excludes other GM vehicles.
  11. If he is unwilling to own up to his actions, there is nothing you can do to force him to work on the car. If you bring in an LEO (law enforcement officer), they might help you reach an agreement with the mechanic, but unless there is signed paperwork that he is working on the vehicle you have nothing.
  12. Ok, it's been an hour since you brought it up. Where are the pics You got me jones'n for this baby cummins.
  13. First of all, you need to have documented what he did to the car. If he did any work without her signing a waiver, letting her know what he is going to do, then your screwed. If she did sign a waiver, then that is proof that he had the car and worked on it. As far as the car overheating, here is a couple of quick items for you to check out on the car. 1) Is the car leaking coolant? 2) Usually on one of the sides of the radiator on the bottom is the thermostat. If you pull this out, is it stuck closed? 3) Does the motor even have any coolant in it? 4) Is it a newer car? Newer cars use that pink or orance coolant and i know lots of people have topped off their coolant with the green/yellow stuff and these two type of coolant don't mix and turn into a gummy substance which clog up the hoses, which cause the car to overheat As far as the not starting, have you guys checked the battery or distributer to make sure they are ok and hooked up correctly? Are the plug wires attached to the plugs? Is the car carb'd or fuel injected?
  14. Sure buddy, I'm always here if you need anything. Hopefully they hurry up and give me the dates that I'll be in Singapore and I'll tune that puppy for ya..lol
  15. Damnit I'm jealous. Imagine how that thing would take off if I had it for a weekend I've got a stage 2 water/meth kit sitting here that I could put on it...lol What are you guys doing do it?
  16. So your emissions laws are like here in Colorado. We have freedom for the first couple of years and then we have to get inspected every year. Believe it or not, it is much easier to mod diesels then gas motors, but modding a diesel requires a little bit more finess. Example, being that adding power means adding fuel, you need to monitor your Exhaust Gas Temperatores at the hottest point (usually in the manifold at cylinders 4 and 6). So the first thing I reccomend is always put in a set of EGT and Boost gauges so that you know what your motor does stock. Watch it for a month or two and just pay attention to what is "Normal." Then as you start adding mods, you can watch your gauges as they are an immediate sign telling you if you are adding to much fuel. If it is a common rail motor, injectors will be terribly expensive to add, so I would start by trying to find a "Pressure" box for that truck. Pressure boxes are the common rail motors version of a tuner box or an upgrade chip. What happens is that a pressure box actually changes the timing of the fuel pump and adds more fuel to the common rail lines, thus adding pressure, giving the motor more fuel to deliver. You are correct in your comment about what works for gas cars will not work for diesels. Diesels have different programming in their ECM's as they burn fuel and operate in complete different fashions. An example is this. Compare your Tach (rpm gauge) to the same vehicle that has a gas motor. A diesel will typicall turn half of the rpms as a gas motor because the pistons have more mass and the torque is turned on a lot earlier. Here is an online forum that I just found for the L200 (http://www.l200.org.uk/community/index.php), it doesn't look like to big of a place, but it might be a place to ask specific questions about this motor and its capabilities.
  17. You suck mang..we don't even have them on the lots yet. Is it a MCD or a Cummins? Post pics, I've gotta see the engine bay
  18. Don't worry, you won't hear any laughing from me. I'll promote even the smallest, weakest diesel over a gas motor any day. If people only knew what diesels were capable of. I'm actually jealous that you have a mid-range diesel. I wish they would start putting them in more vehicles in the states. I'd love to have a little 2.8 liter cummins in a cherokee or tahoe...ohh yeah.
  19. Hate to break it to ya buddy, but a chip, exhaust and intake will not give any diesel 750hp. Considering these trucks are advertised to have 365 at the crank...stock, how is a chip going to double the hp. Not gonna happen. headshok - here is where I would start. If you can find out if the motor is direct injection or common rail injection then I'll see what I can get you. If it is direct injection, you can get a good boost of power by simply getting a matched/honed set of injectors. Second, is this motor computer controlled? I am not to aware of this motor but if it is not, then you can close down the wastegate on the turbo, put on a directed air intake and at least get a little more boost out of it. Lastly, something that will affect you drastically. Aren't you located in Singapore? What are the laws in your area surounding stuff like this? Here in the states, we still have to have emissions (Opacity testing). So that really does limit what kind of add-ons that you can put on your vehicle, unless you want to take the parts on and off every year..lol To answer your question on the A/F ratio. Yes, diesels still have an A/F range that they need to be within. But the range has a higher tolerance on these engines. Mainly because fuel is being compresses vs burned (yes i know some diesel have glow plugs, but they DO funtion different than sparkplugs, heating the fuel not burning it). Diesel will take what fuel it can not burn and usually recycle it out the tailpipe, to keep the A/F within it's range However, the more air that is injected, the more fuel it can burn. Keep in mind as well that the more fuel you inject, the higher the Exhaust Gas Temperatures, which can lead to an engine melting down. So there really is an art to adding safe power to diesels. Please don't hesitate to post up any questions that you have...as myself and others will do what we can to help you out. kev
  20. I don't do it for a living, but it definately is a side hobby of mine. I've rebuild several motors putting them more on the performance side of the fence. Usually i'll have someone else doing the boring for me, due to the precision tools that are need, but them I'll take care of the building and tuning.
  21. NICE.....Awesome job bro...post up some pics of that bad boy.
  22. I'm sure glad I'm at home and not in the SJ...had my fair share of quakes living in cali back in the day. They get old..quick..lol
