  1. ive noticed that the crunch amps get hot while the hifonics stay cool. ( you really think that maxxsonics would put the same hifonics quality in a cheaper lesser amp )
  2. sorry guys ive just had bad experiences with audiobahns.. that and theres just sometin too cheesy about chrome flame baskets.. look trick in a custom car tho
  3. try putting ANY audiobahns in ANY BOX ROFL

    Amp Woes

well i was operating it near the rms rating. i wasnt pushing it past that. this was the HOTTEST ive ever seen a speaker get within that time frame. not saying i know all or anything but i set up all my systems like i have this one. and this one got the hottest. all my other systems have barely gotten past luke warm.. so im gonna try my vmax 15 inch from them and if that gets hot too then obvioiusly its something with the amp. thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it

well if thats normal then it had to be a defective sub somehow we werent dropping voltage and i belive it wasnt clipping. cause it was gettin hot real quick. like withing half a song not even. now i did have it sub up port up. with the sub sonic approx around 20 hz (guesstimate) could it have been over working itself facing up? it was in the optimum box. that it called for on the cv site
  6. go find yourself a abc warehouse if there is one near you. they usually have rockbottom prices. everything i described could be bought for under 500 bux. where are you located at? i know the amp is cheesy but hey youll be bumpin. and for cheap too. i would trade in the wiring kit for some 4 guage though http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rockford-Fo...sspagenameZWDVW
  7. thats totally untrue.. do yourself a favor newbie get yourself one rockford p2 15 and a prefab 15 inch slit port box and one 500 watt rms amp. if you dont have room for a a 15 then get yourself one 12 inch p2and a prefab 12 inch slit port box and a 500 watt rms amp. (be sure to pre drill the holes for the screws. ) make sure you get a head unit that has seperate lpf and hpf filters and seperate sub adjustment. turn all the bass down in the cab. and keep your stock speakers. (unless they are blown they will work fine) get four ohm voice coils wire it to 2 ohms and find yourself a midgrade amp. cant go wrong with crunch series. not everone has to have the top of the line stuff. and not everone has to be able to do this :hairtrick: to have love and a passion for the game. (although one should read up and learn how to install his or her self if they wanna do this hobby)

is that dc voltage reading normal ?^^^^^^^^^

    Amp Woes

well tonight i ran a test put the gain to 1/4 and turned bass boost down. ran a few songs and all the results were near the same. stayed at .43v dc constant and then would spike to about 3.48 volts dc when hard basslines would hit also hit different volts all the way up to 3.48 also during startup there is no humming or feedback or movement of the speakers.. thats the first thing i looked for when we bought it used. i usually turn up the gain until i can hear distortion and then back it down 1/6th of a turn i will start setting with a multimeter though. its a alpine head unit and new rca cables. ran opposite of power wires. gonna test some other woofers tommorow

i can ususally detect major clipping with my ears. the head unit is alpine so i have a feeling no worries tehre. ive setup many systems. and have only had this issue on this one. so its tellin me either the amp is damaged and putting out dc voltage. causing heat buildup. btw tried another speaker on it. and guess what. runs hot. no matter how i set it. amp runs super cool though

the box was the optimum enclosure for the woofer. the woofer was movin but didnt look like it was over exerting itself but if the gains are set properly will the amp put out dc voltage at all? also this amp was bought used. from some guy who didnt know what he was doin. so its probably damaged how can i check for dc output

hey everone. a freind just recently bought a hifonics brutus bxi 2006 2000 watt rms amp and a cerwin vega stroker 15. dual 2 ohm voice coil. 0 guage wire ran from battery to battery and battery to amp/ground . big three were also upgraded. has a 600 size kinetic battery in the trunk and voltage drop is not an issue. never measured lower than 13.2 v dc while bumping and sitting at idle set his amp for breakin did around 12 hours or so of it. and then i turned the amp up for daily use. no clipping or distortion was heard. sounded SUPER CLEAN and loud to boot. but the speaker would heat up really bad. after about two mins of playing any song. after talking to a rep at cerwin vega. they said that that speaker should NOT get hot AT ALL. and the amp could be putting out dc voltage. (causing heat buildup) well the other day i guess while he was listening to psst by snoop dog. the voice coil came unwound. and it smelt like burnt epoxy well what im trying to ask is how can i test the amp to see if its putting out dc voltage? (my common sense tells me put a dmm on the outputs without a speaker and set the meter to dc and bump a song and watch to see what it puts out ) should it read anything on the meter when set to dc? if it reads anything. even 1 v dc is that bad? i mentioned the ac voltage chart for setting gain to cv and they said theyve never heard of that. is it safe to set my gain like that? also the speaker was in the optimum enclosure that cv called for 4.0 cubic feet tuned to 40 hz. is it bad to play the speaker below or above box tuning? somone mentioned that that was a spl box and not a daily use box. somone please take me to school on these things. for the record. the speaker was VERY loud. and sounded VERY clean. while it lasted. good thing its rebuildable.
  14. if he says hes blowing the dome light fuse.. wouldnt that have something to do with his radio wiring??
  15. what hx2s you got ? the punch or power? i prefer rockfords older stuff anyhow although the t1-t2s are nice
  16. so would it be better to tune lower than the reccomended hz ? id like to hit below 40 hz safely. should i tune the box to like 30 hz? 36 hz? im confused. ive heard playing at the boxes tuned freq can hurt the speaker
  17. the kid has 2 15s .. the other kid has one 12... that means the TWO 15s beat the ONE 12 due to more cone area BUT if you had 2 t2s it would keep up with the two 15s because they have more xmax than the 15s
  18. the one guy has two 15s the other 1 12 if you had the 15s in the optimum box optimum wattage with optimum voltage. it would be louder than the one 12 due to cone area.. but if you had two 12s with everything perfect as mentioned above the two 12s would probably keep up because of more excursion but the 15s would still be slightly louder due to cone area.. also the t2 has the upper hand on overall quality. imho also with the example of 8 12s im sure there is some cancelation goin on.. also doesnt a smaller box raise the overall freq response? if this is the case couldnt it cause distortion. or higher frequencys giving a false sense of loudness? feel free to crack the whip on me if im wrong or outta line.
  19. what are you SMOKING ive seen the cvrs even owned some 12s and ive installed a t2 in a buddys car. trust me the t2 has WAYYYYY better build quality. and much better sound quality. yours will be louder soely due to cone area. nothing less nothing more . for everyday bumpage a t2 is nothing to sneeze at.
  20. i dont really listen to songs for the lyrics.. most of em suck... but i listen to songs soely for the beat. call me retarted, but very rarely do i listen to a song and say.. tight lyrics..
  21. but your buddy has the upper hand on quality and probably sq

  23. wtf you talkin about 2 pac aint dead.. or at least thats what all the chaldeeaans at my school used to say.. ROFL
  24. what im trying to say is you can fit two 12s in there. you may need to tune the freq higher though. maybe not. . just trying to help out a fellow caddy owner.. whatchu got ?
