  1. well you got me convinced, and it seems like they are a similar price any experience with the 4xl's? im really looking to either throw an 8 and 6 in pods and a 4 int he stock location, or run 2 6.5's, a 4 in the door, a tweeter, and 2 10inch midbasses in a center console. If those 8's are worth getting and are better than kicker ssmb8's, i'd be sold, i have this thing about everything matching, i think itlooks mad ghetto when stuff is obviously mismatched (3 gto amps, 2 power subs, 2 power components, 1 power coax....get the idea, i didnt wanna run ss kickers, i really dislike the sound of them, i find it really harsh.
  2. i'm running 3 sets of jbl powers (the 660 series) in my car right now, but i was looking to do like an 8-6-4 3 way setup, are these speakers louder? clearer? more midbass(doubt that one considering the powers are beasts in the lows)
  3. thats what they do, every one ive driven rattles....see if you can do anything like deading around the mounting holes for the panels or something like that, it should make some difference
  4. he had a sock in the car somewhere, its jsut so it doesnt get too scraped up by the metal, and its hard to see, but that pic of me smiling in the engine bay, my other hand is woven through and under all the hoses and junk in there, going from the battery area to the charge post of the alt, it was the most awkward position, and i dropped that damn nut twice. voltage chills at just under 14.4 with the motor running, battery was 12v on the dot outta the box, was prob sitting awhile. If anyone is wondering how to solder those cup type terminals, vice em, cut the wire sheath back far enough that the wire hits the end, twist the terminal cup onto the wire so it takes the shape, remove the wire, break solder into short enough pieces to fill it end to end, pack it full or solder bits, melt it down to a nice pool in the bottom of the cup, shove the wire in utilizing the twist you put on it with the test fit, and then invert it and let it cool. Those things are never coming off. theres prob 8-10 inches of solder melted into each one. and that battery strap is probably the most secure thing int he car, im pretty sure if this car gets hit that battery is gonna be straight chillen right there, its bolted down with big ass frame bolts that were originally used to hold down the battery tray and stock battery, its never moving.
  5. it looked like it had a scratch or two on some of the corners, but that may have been from us trying to get it in, other than that it looked perfect one more reason mechman rocks
  6. stupid pic of me shoulder deep int he engine campartment trying to get the charging post bolt back on FTMFW and you def owe me a strip of plumbers tape=)
  7. 8am class one day a week, fuck that bill for new rotors, pads, abs sensor, o2 sensor, and labor is the exact amount i planned for new bl's and a box, fuck that
  8. they're both good, but the re's prob go a little lower and the t1's probably go a little louder there's no wrong choice, especially if this is your first system
  9. i <3 jbl just so u realize, these are more of an sq speaker than a volume speaker, they are very very clean. they will get loud with some power, but they're more so meant as an sq setup. the px and bpx lines of amps have been discontinued, but looks for an amp that can easily do 150rms the 300.4 is a beast amp and should be fine for them, i'm not sure what your price range is or how many you're running, but the alpine pdx's are pretty sick, or you can go the route everyone else does and look at sundown 100.4. just remember that you do get what you pay for to some extent, so dont be afraid to drop a few extra dollars for the peace of mind that it's going to last and work the way it should.
  10. chode is right nekkid picks 18+ should have a revenge section, that would be sweet whenever someone wants to verify me=)
  11. since he cant see it anyway, he was asking if there was a way to remove it from the "recent post" section of the front page, so he doesnt know of all the fun he's missing out on
  12. 6.5 is reccomended, but you can always go a little more or less your port will likely take up a cubic foot or two depending on tuning, so plan on going a bit bigger if you end up with less than 6.5, and a smaller than usual port, u get a "safer" box, where the output is decreased, but the subs can handle more power and are harder to bottom out, but overall they arent as loud and quality suffers a bit going too large, it gets louder, and probably lower, but its much easier to do damage to the subs
  13. rollin on the floor laughing it means something was funny gow sucked, 70 sumthin dollar game i beat in 7 hours....and the online sucked, everyone sits behind a wall and pulls a gay kill on you if you stick your head out, its worse than rainbow 6
  14. anything is possible with some hacking, to go to altel from say, verizon, you can sometimes get away with changing the firmware and then registering the IMEI number with verizon as a new fone, easiest at one of their kiosks verizon reps=retards, i had one tell me that a memory card from the verizon kiosk wouldnt work in my motorola a1200 with at&t sim.... they're trained to cover their asses and use the FAQ section of the verizon website.
  15. with that said, with 4000 watts, you shouldnt be parking lot bumping keep the car running and watch your voltage, 4000 watts is an assload of current draw
  16. good deal for the price, before it turns into a 300 dollar paper weight.... could be like the valor units, where it takes 7 trys to get a working unit....
  17. i remember back in the day i sued to get "dead" rechargable r/c car batteries from my buddies and hook it up to a higher voltage charger for a day or two, free batteries ftw. you never really get back 100% capacity though, just going on something simple, my car ran for 20 mins on a charge, a sulfated battery would run like 4-5 mins, after reconditioning you got like 16-17 mins. It def helps, but once the damage is done its not 100% reversable
  18. the game changes so fast its ahrd to keep up its only a few years ago that 850watt amps were 3 feet long and cost a few thousand and it wasnt that long ago that the world db record was 160...which some people now pull on music in a daily driver
  19. hate to dig up an old thread but, DO NOT USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER acetone, especially in higher concentrations, will leave you with bare friggin metal. I've definately seen people who tried that and ended up with a nice round spot of aluminum on their otherwise perfect beemer, dont even risk it. but x2 on kerosene, that works great, and hit up autozone for plastic razor blades. Ive used plastic blades and kerosene to get bumper stickers off of paint, sap, stickers off of tint (kids put them on the inside of a customer's window, not kerosene but vinegar), and that bright ass yellow roadpaint that people love to drive through and get all over their side skirts and bumpers that lasts like 10 years on a road. Well, that stuff usually needed some hardcore solvent if it dried on for a while. kerosene and plastic razor blades, follow it up with terrycloth or microfiber, and dont sit there huffing that shit or you get a mean headache also, if its been sitting for a while, dont try and polish it off with compound and a buffing wheel, 9 out of 10 times itll take clear or paint off with it, that stuff is usually pretty acidic, as is the red bird poop (they eat berry's, lots of acid) Get both off as soon as possible or you get alot of little pits and stuff in your paint.
  20. word, they make millions of the first 2, and then like 10 of the third, so if you find the third, the other two are a happy meal or two away
  21. oswego =upstate ny its basically a 2-3 hour drive to canada from here p.s., i go to oswego too, and live in LI as well, which is how we know eachother
  22. i got jumped once and got everything stolen, phone, glasses, keys, everything i had on me between getting my car towed home, locksmith, new keys, new alarm system, new glasses (with no insurance ftl), and the missed days of work iw as out like $1k somehow it was the only time my wallet wasnt in my pocket, hooray for no pocket basketball shorts. i left it in my car, along with 2 weeks pay in cash, debit cards, licence, fake id's, student id's, and all the other stuff you have, and spare keys to my mom and now ex-girl friends house you cant be tight until you SEE your stuff taken from you
  23. have him pay for a newer car ftw=) the only verts i've seen with any decent lows had a 10 or two between the driver and passenger seats, trunks are useless in most any convertable
