Iam so frusterated with head units personally, I wish I could put a order in for a custom deck. I would do slave only unit, alum face plate, OEL display, copper chassis, 30band 1/3 octave eq, built in DSP, HDCD decoding, SACD/ DVD Audio- fully discreet channels, optical/SPDIF digital outs, seperate brain unit so someone doesnt try and squeez all that stuff in one head unit, and scrap quality--with a few aux inputs, like USB, RCA, and mini plug.... But until that day I just buy the deh-5800 and up models from pioneer.... But ofcourse Denon kicks ass McIntosh is awesome, but large, and out dated looking, unless they made new models rescently my 2cents

Hard Hitting Song For A Wharfedale System?
Forevrbumpn replied to a topic in Tunez - All things music related
another thing is, keep in mind, Wharfdale is high end home audio, and is more based on movies/home audio, which is very low toned if anything -

Jl Audio W7 For Less Than $100
Forevrbumpn replied to AlpineGuy87's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
That cant be right, someone has got to be ripping people off. Shops cost on a 10w7 is somewhere around $350-400, so Iam assuming the cost to build from JL, has got to be about half that, so if someone is saying they can get a $400 cost, $800-1000 retail sub for $100 its to good to be true. Maybe its a missinformed site, you know bait and switch, end up getting a refurbished w3 for $100, that sounds alot more likely -
60 Inch Subwoofer! Worlds Largest Sub!
Forevrbumpn replied to AlpineGuy87's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
that would be fun to connect to a 440volt 60amp 60hz outlet in a full size van church van, or little yellow bus, wall it off , concrete the mutha fker with rebar, and see how fast the windows break..... That thing was actually made really sturdy, but I dunno about the 6000lbs of linear force... If you look at that thing up close, the terminals and speaker wire are huge! like 0gauge to power the sub, and the cone is reinforced with steel bracing on the front side. I dont think it was a complete waste, but a fun 1 time weekend project -
Well if that is right, cancel out the remote from the deck, get a relay, wire a constant 12v a ignition 12v, well, wire up the relay like you should, and then run that 12v ignition from the relay to the amp, that WILL solve all issue.... decks have problems all the time with thier remote wires arcing against chassis ground and frying out, or to much amperage draw from the remote out on a deck, trying to power remote turn on - on multiple items will kill the remote turn on out as well.... so cancel out the remote out, and do a relay from ignition

yeah I think the window/door thing is based on frequency. if your tuned high, you want your windows rolled up, and sealed tight Iam sure... Ive noticed everyone tuned low need windows open
-
another thing is, might sound wierd, but when you roll your window up and down, your causeing that window to be the vehicles Port.. Basically the combination between your box, and cars interior is like a ABC box. Alot of competitors you actually see slowly opening thier car doors, or windows because they KNOW there car is gaining DBs, maybe just .1, .3 .5dbs when they do that, but it does help
-
Well, first off, everyone is saying tune here and there, I think the first 2 questions should be, 1) What subs are you running? 2) what car? This guy could have some 10" Pro audio woofers that look big and beefy with a Fs of 50hz, and a 3mm xmax, and running them in an excursion, if that was the case, everyone would be wrong, and the guy would be blowin subs left and right. I looked thru this thread ( I can be blind from time to time) but I didnt see any mention of subwoofer brand, or car. I didnt like the Re box calc either, I had Winisd, it was alright, but Bassbox6.0 has been the easiest, and most indepth Ihave used yet, next to actual LEAP/LMS programs

That whole 16" of port area per cubic foot thing is only a guide line for SPL that DD Audio made popular. There are a few ways I determine port area, they are: SPL 50% cone area SQL 35% cone area SQ 25% cone area Another I just started useing which also works great, is get the QTS number, and multiply that by cone area. So, a 0.35 QTS sub with 80sq in area cone is 28sq inch port. As far as air space, I just work within the car environment, and use port length to calculate tuning- Subs under 0.20qts, or over 0.7qts, you may want to use other techniques

Just tonite I was installing a fold down 17" monitor in someones Tahoe, when I finished up, I asked, "So now that were done, you want to go take a drive around the block so you could finally hear a real system?" (he had 2- diesel audio 10s) So we get in, there was 3 of us, in my blazer, we roll down the street, and notice that the park on Manzanita was still open at 930pm, I said, "Looks like the park is still open, lets roll over there" (last night a bunch of people got arrested there for somethin, i dont know why, but there was a helicopter and about 4-5 cop cars- and my dumb ass decides to roll over there the next night) So I get Jeezy Air forces ready, I roll in the parking lot, parked, and the second before the bass line hits, like 25seconds in to the song, Lights behind me- Followed me in with thier lights off- I can see the shot gun in my rear view mirror hung up in the car, so it definitly wasnt park security, thats for sure. So, Iam 4 blocks from my house, just finished a install, had about 4beers, currently not rollin with a DLs (fines need to be paid) And just 1 second before the bass was about to hit, this cop comes to the window, and knocks on the window and tells me........ "Your not getting out are you?" - No officer, I was just going to show someone my system, we were not going to get out. ( I was smellin like beer, and was thinking, FUCCCCCCCCC Everythings going gone tonite!! ) Then She says, "Then get out of here so I can do my job" I got off really lucky tonite, I coukd of had everything impounded, and no money to get the truck and system out with. Thats just a rescent incident, there are many more in the past

If you know your audio, and know how to process audio, its easy to go from a 5.1 system, and make your own 7.2, 10.2 systems(there are many processors you can buy ). Its all about delay between satalites mainly. But its not true, 7, or 10channel. That is ALOT of info to process, and some kind of new connector would have to come up. I heard of HDMI being used as audio also, which makes sense, because there are so many connectors on the cable, so it can be used for a discrete multi channel hook up (signal only) All my years of audio, my favorite audio sources to come out were DVD Audio, and SACD. Pretty amazing when you can get 10hz-70,000 full band width on all 5 channels-discreet(Dolby hasent been able to achive that yet I dont think), and can easily distinguish between music behind you, and music in front of you, at full bandwidth~ awesome when you get the right demo music And, BTW, thru the grape vine, I heard of Theater systems in the movie theaters switching over to 10.2, over head satalites, ect, should be sweet
