  1. Ahhh your right I wont be a smart ass and edit my post But still need the Name, Date, and SMD all on the same paper with pics I still don't see any SSD motors what so ever holey shit? 2yrs? delete that thread
  2. Surprised thread has not been deleted yet since you only have 159 posts you need 300+ posts to sell on SMD unless your special Until its deleted, you might as well show pics of the 4 motors, with your screen name, date, and SMD on the same paper
  3. I gotta try that I did the shirt trick on mine, and I needed a lighter shirt. I have a PG $100 500w amp, and 2- 12s But that looks like a good loud set up for the wattage
  4. Arnold and Chris got the best answers in this thread Unloading is unsafe, and usually causes a wind tunnel, not resonating air If a port is blowing air like a compressor air nozzle, tuning is probably to high Questions I didn't see is "How large is your box?" and "How is your box ported/ tuned dimensions of the box internals, and dimensions of the port?" it could be quit possible the box was tuned wrong, maybe you expected a 30hz tuning, but got a 40 hz tuning, and the woofer will unload with a lot of chopped and screwed music or music that is being constantly played below tuning One way to check things is get a test tone CD that steps in single digits, 30hz, 31hz, 32hz Find the point where the woofer is barely moving at all, almost a standstill That should be port tuning write that number down Now keep going low from that number ( Say you found the cone barely moves at 40hz) Now while testing the tones, going lower, you will more than likely get the most wind- not resonating wind, but wind tunnel type wind at about 20hz So, what I'am guessing is, your listening to music well below port tuning Simple solution, after finding the tuning freq, use a subsonic filter to filter bass below that frequency The harder solution, tear out, rebuild, tune lower I highly doubt you will actually damage that SMD woofer, those things are obviously built like beasts but again, if your running rated RMS, or higher, you may be getting in to dangerous territory with the box/filtering left alone
  5. I thought about saying that about custom made lights Bobby Gately, in the area over here uses liquid acrylic to make some pretty sick molds, just buff, and polish, and bam That stuff can also be tinted with resin pigment I believe
  6. from the subscription, youtube always emails you about 18hrs - 24hrs later, atleast with Steve it does
  7. ^ clicking links helps some
  8. Nikoli Tesla is my hero He has invented so many things, and had such a great mind about new technology for his days
  9. ties are fun to watch out here they roll the dice to compete for different numbers, not keep trying the same number over and over like 139 class tied, roll the dice, and maybe you get like 135.4, that is the number you cant pass a little tricky
  10. just PM me
  11. the impedance rise doesn't have to do with the coils, the sub is probably broken in pretty good, and the suspension may be lose a really stiff suspension, and a smaller box will change all of that The Kore coils, the ones I have anyways are some of the best coils I have laid my hands on The power is still exaggerated, 5000rms on any speaker under a 4" or even a 5" coil is kind of BS if you ask me
  12. bump bump was hoping to get some bites on this by weekends end I will negotiate final price
  13. I have the Kore Quad 1.5ohm coils in fact, how funny, but only have like 2 maybe 3 on hand would be impossible to match exactly the other Kores though, spiders, and cones But thats a 3" coil, not 4"
  14. I studied Neo types for a few years, trying to find ways to make neo motors without having to buy pre made in China with 200 pcs at a time, so I started talking to US neo manufacturers, and learned a lot by talking to these people. Ferrite magnets, well, i know my way around a ferrite magnet charger backwards forwards, and upside down. Next step would be making one, but kind of scary discharging 500 capacitors at 1 time, do it wrong and you get sparks flying, or magnets flying through the ceiling
  15. if you can get just 2 extra cones, let me know P I still have these 21" frames I want to use for something, anything
  16. What are the motors from? I have some nice 4" coil 18" cones, really ridged, and light And I have some nice long throw 4" coils, and 9" spiders that fit most 18" frames
  17. I think you will love them no, you better love them lol
  18. the date is 5/29/10 NOT 09' just wrote the wrong date haha
  19. This is a fully custom 18" D2, high excursion, high efficiency, 1500rms easily, the coil and spider has been known to take 2000rms This will love ported, tlines, even sealed. Dual 2ohm, so 4 ohm mono, or 1 ohm mono will be perfect on this I'am asking 300 shipped in the lower 48states Terminals are up to buyer whether you want terminals, or direct lead connect SOLD>>>>
  20. This one was pretty sad to hear when I seen it this morning I really liked him, Dennis was a real actor
  21. Neo isn't 500 times stronger than ferrite, about 20 - 30times stronger But in HIGH power SPL Neo still doesn't have a long term use yet, since when the stronger the neo, the faster it loses power with heat, so even with the lower grade neo like n42, the magnetism still starts to dissipate with about 150 - 160degs, while ferrite can hold its magnetism up to 200 - 240deg Why is that important? Well, voice coils generate a lot of heat, a coil can get 300+ deg, and it radiates on to the magnet, and top plate, and pole piece So yeah Neo is good for pro audio, and light subwoofer applications, but when they get hot, they lose power and need to be re-charged Should we get in to the charging of Neo? Its not easy A standard ferrite magnet, say 8" OD 1" thick- 2 slugs attached to a built up motor, will need about 1000 volts to charge with about 600 - 800 amps of current behind that 1000v Thats about 800,000watts per magnet charge Neo, you need about 3 - 4 - 5 times the charging force than ferrite meaning to charge 1 neo magnet about 3" OD 1" thick, you need about 3,200,000watts for every charge, and thats assuming the motor structure is small enough to be charged inside the magnet charger Anyone owning a Shocker Sig motor, dont come to me saying, "But my neo motor still works fine" Sure it works fine, but sure half the magnetism, if not more has been dissipated from that motor So, that is my thought on neo... bottom line needs to be taken care of, and watched closely These Aura motors though, are about the best design neo motors on the market, the neo stays pretty cool this way, and is small enough to be charged at a few locations
  22. You don't get in 18+ based on your real age, its based on postings, and how trustworthy you are the 18+ isn't ONLY porn, its adult topics, and/or personal topics that people don't want the rest of the world knowing The 18+ you need a min post count, I dont know what it is these days, but like 500posts?
  23. I was approached to make some 21"s, since I had some 21" frames, but couldn't get any 21" cones, So well, we finally came to the conclusion, well, maybe some 18s that can sound like 21"s. Started thinking about displacement, and Fs. Started coming up with some 18s that will be able to play lower than most 18s, with more excursion than most. Came up with some 3" coils with 3" winding width, 9" long throw design spiders, capable of 4" total excursion ( maybe 2.5" linear ) Used some cones I had laying around that have soft low Fs surrounds. I finally came up with these High excursion, about 1800rms, low Fs, low Qts, musical beasts Custom leaded spiders, dual lead with ring terminals Unfortunately due to no more motors, and very low stock on 18" cones, I may not be doing any more 18s for a long time So if anyone is looking for custom ground up subs, or reconed 18"s, it wont be happening for some time
  24. That "Torture chamber" we had one Exactly like that too, maybe made by the same manufacturer What these originally are for is to test peoples hearing, its a soundproof room, you cant hear anything once inside. "anechoic" chamber But we used it for the same thing, get a new woofer design, throw 1000- 1200rms to it with a 20hz test tone for about 8hrs, and re-test T/S parameters after, or just see if the woofer even lived but yeah cool how I seen some similarities with MTX and my old job
