  1. that all depends on the other brand deadener. The reason why more installs have alot more deadener is just like you said massive systems but also the nature of the game few people take pics and do builds that are reasonable. I used to work for a second skin dealer and went way overboard on my car as well. and i can tell you from experience 100% + coverage like i did was not needed. I wasted money by doing that. Also the hard part is every car is going to be different. You can spray in spectrum just remember that it takes a while to dry and you dont want to spray it to thin Oh also food for thought: http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sound-deadening-fabrication/105520-vibration-test-results-p-s-not-p-s-question.html
  2. does firewall have any rust inhibitors? I'm going to be buying a car soon and one of the first things id like to do is spray the undercarriage with either firewall or spectrum leaning towards firewall (but rust inhibitor is a must)
  3. you have to remember that every application is different and like everything else in "car audio" the 25% is a rule of thumb per say. Meaning that each car is inherently different and most people that are taking pics and posting builds at least are using it with a sub system. Since the subs purpose is to make vibrations and the sound dampeners purpose is to prevent them; depending on your system and goals more than 25% may be needed. Ultimately 100% is pretty much never needed but it is what it is
  4. heating it up will make it easier to apply but ultimately it doesn't really need to be heated up. If you still want to do it i would recommend hitting it with a heat gun instead of throwing it in the oven

  6. ya i used alot. the only thing that rattled for a while was this shield for the gas tank but it eventually stopped. while it doesnt matter if u used spectrum first then damp pro i would suggest damp pro them spectrum like i did. for 2 reasons. 1 the spectrum gives you a uniform layer and covers an butyl from the damp pro (not really a huge deal but its nice) 2 spectrum takes up to 30 days to fully cure. so even though its good to go after a week it probably wont be fully cured.
  7. yes i have both in my vehicle check out my build log http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/electronics-audio-video-49/empjj-second-skin-thread-197926/
  8. The only issue i would forsee is how long it takes to fully cure. If it rains during that time idk if that would affect it at all. Other than that idk why it wouldnt work. I dont think it would be as durable as bed liner but for example when i was competing in my car i had a layer of damp pro on the trunk and a thick layer of spectrum and it withstood taking the box in and out of the car (it was built so it only would come out of the rear seat opening not the trunk, so i had to drag it in and out) It was a double faced 4cu box made with 3/4 MDF. im pretty sure i took the woofer out every time but i dont remember
  9. you wouldn't spray it on the mat(carpet?) but the metal of the truck instead. If this comes out i will be applying it under the car as new mexico is hot as hell as well.
  10. yes... not sure if they would use the same formula but if i remember correctly before someone put it on or very close to the exhaust without any issues
  11. What exactly are you trying to get at with that post? While yes i do agree him posting "steve posted it on his FB pages" isn't a direct response to you not seeing it on the forums; you have to realize it was posted on this forum in which you are a member. So while yes your statement of it wasn't "big news" is valid and correct you can't really complain you "missed it" due to it not being widespread news since it was posted on a forum you are a member of.
  12. right, adding dampening wouldnt really change that.... you can try it but in most cases you will get significantly quieter unless u seal the trunk
  13. spectrum will stick on damp pro like a charm. all you have to do is make sure its clean (i did the spectrum a while after the damp pro so this was more important for me as it had time to get dirty) I have spectrum on my entire floor, rear deck, and almost the entire trunk. no issues with it not sticking at all.
