The reason it could fail thermally from underpowering is because it will not have enough movement for the cooling to take place. you just said same thing the other guy said. why? i read it just fine the first time around. you are talking about a myth, a made up concept of thermal damage while under powering. why send so much power to a single sub? if you are overpowering any given sub it only makes sense to get a second one. you would use your power better and will be louder.

why did you cut it? a blown off dust cap is no reason to kill a sub like that? that coil rub is totally fine.

The red line on the flare is the half inch i was going to cut off to make it fit into a box. Never ended up using the 9" tho.
