Alright, so yesterday i got my order in the mail for the entire futurevision HID kit for my truck. I have the projector lens for my low beams, hid for my fog and hid for my high beams. The one thing i was wondering is that with the low beam, the projector has a blue wire you can wire up so it can do your low and high beams. Since i am using it for just low beams do i need to worry about wiring this up? I dont have the 4 way light mod on my truck and dont plan to do this since i know id have no need for it. And yes i did send futurevision an email to see what they say for sure but i thought id ask you guys on here about it. Also, since i dont have enough room underneath my front headlights to mount all 3 ballasts on each side of the vehicle, will i be alright just zip-tieing them to the frame where my stock light housings clamp into place on the back part of it? It shouldnt be that much to get it fixed. It wont hurt to make a post and ask about the repair cost, who knows maybe someone is local in your area and can cover the shipping to fix it.

It would kill my blade since its made for wood not metal but it would still cut the screw either way. Another thing i thought of but i wouldnt do is to get something like a chisel and put it underneath the gasket of your sub and onto where the bolt is and get a hammer and wack at the screw enough to get it to break.

Make your bro grow up and pay for his damages Just make a post on here with what kind of amp you have and if anyone knows how to replace the gain knob on the amp. It shouldnt be that hard, the hardest part would be to find the SAME gain knob to put in. Other than that you just have to unsolder it and resolder a new one in.

I would try as someone else mentioned and use bolt cutters. If that doesnt work get a saws all and a SMALL blade made for cutting metal. If you can take all the other screws out and see if you can pull the subwoofer out of the enclosure a little. If you can put the saw blade underneath the lip of the landing zone for the surround and cut SLOWLY. It should cut the screw in half and you can pull the sub out. Luckily i didnt have this happen to me but when i put my SMD in my box, the damn t-nuts would fall out of the wood and at the bottom of the box so i had to take the sub in and out 5 times before i got pissed and walked away and my dad did it in 2 minutes Just see if you have enough room underneath the lip of the basket to get bolt cutters or a small saw blade under there. I would not take the saw on the area where the surround is because if the tip of the blade hits the edge of the surrounds landing zone it will kick the blade back and i guarantee you that you will slice your surround in the process.

Depending on what it is you can go to radioshack and get a new potentiometer for it and solder it in. Or maybe look into a amp repair shop to see how much they want to fix it or a new amp.

Thats good, glad you found one. Dont feel bad, i didnt lose the ones on my old amp but i stripped the hell out of the heads of the screw since they were cheap aluminium and i love to crank screws down and had to buy new ones. Just dont do it like my co-workers amp is, the guy who did the install in his truck put a long drywall screw through the terminal that stripped out to hold his remote wire in place. It kept shorting out and he didnt know why he kept popping fuses and the dumbass put a 180 amp fuse on 4ga wire!!

He means that the output from the radios rca goes into his mids-highs amp FIRST, then off the mids-highs amps output rca's it goes to his subwoofer amp.

The xover for the sub amp is more than likely lowpass, meaning where you set it, any frequencies below that area will play from the sub. If the xover is on your mids and highs amp, it will play freqs above it (maybe, idk your amp or setup specifically)

For eq i meant an external equalizer. If your amps have highpass, lowpass, and subsonic you will be just fine with them and running them off the input/output of the amp. Theres no need for anything fancy like a 3sixty or something for a system like yours unless you really felt like dishing out that kind of money. Personally i wouldnt, your radio will be fine with how you have it, just set the amps properly.

You can use an eq if you wanted to, its up to you. Honestly if you set the amps settings right you wouldnt need one too much to run your mids-high and sub amps. Just make sure the highpass and lowpass are set correctly on the amps and you will be perfect.

Hey man, i have a sony xplod for my smd, it says 1600w and i have 4 of them going to my smd. But yea wild cat, all jokes aside just spend some time on here reading posts about real setups and how to hook them up, you can learn a lot from this site as long as youre not a lazy ass and make posts just to have someone bring the info to you because you dont believe in the search function.

It wont mess anything up. The output is just a reproduced signal that is going into the input of the amp. So whatever sound enters the amps input rca terminals, will be sent out the same way on the output rca terminals. There will not be any equalization differences in the output since it is "pass through" or just sends the original signal to the next amp.

No this is not a joke. Theres no way in hell that anybodys ears can detect distortion as well as an oscope or the DD-1. Not even the DMM trick works as well as the scope or dd-1 will. Just keep it at the subs rated power and dont go any further until you learn or do some reading on here about how to set everything up and know the tricks to it all.

Heres another thing maybe you can do. Do you have a magnet wand? If the screw is magnetic you can put the wand near the area you lost the screw and hope it grabs onto the end of it.

oh god, please dont say that. Just by you saying that means you should NOT put more than the rms of the sub from the amp. You cannot hear distortion until it gets to a high level. An oscope or the smd DD-1 will find distortion way before your ears do.

Valu, Home Depot, lowes, etc will have them. All you need to do is find out what size the screw is and what thread size it is. If you have a tap and die kit you can use a feeler gauge to see what size thread it is on the other screw you have in the amp. You can also take one of the dies and put the screw in one to see if it fits. It should fit in easily without any force. Or if you dont have a tap and die kit you can just take the screw with you to the store and find one that has the same thread and size. The threads of the new screw should ALL sit inside the one from the amp flush, they should not have a single thread overlapping or you will strip the amps terminal or the screw itself. Also be advised if the screw came to a point when it is inserted in the amp the new one you buy wont have that. What you would need to do if the flat end of the screw isnt enough to grab the wire would be to fold over the speaker wire and solder it so it has a solid grab on the speaker wire.

Unless you have the right tools and knowledge of where to set everything and have no distortion or exceed the freq limit of your sub/enclosure then i wouldnt do it. Stick with the rated power and be safe or you will smoke your stuff. There are tons of guys on here who exceed the rms power of their speakers (me included) but you need to know things such as impedance rise, where to set the xovers on your equipment, if there is any distortion at all in any part of the system, thermal limits of your equipment, etc. You cant just throw a 3000w rms amp at a 750w rms sub without knowing how you can do it and everything like that.
