Sound Deadener
herbykw replied to lowsound10's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
I have a layer of Fatmat in my trunk. For the First day or so it smelled a little like tar. But it goes away. If your going to use Fatmat or anything like it use multiple layers. I hear you can get "peal n seal" at Home depot for half the price of Fatmat and that it is the same thing. If this is true, put 2-3 layers on. -
IM up in Marysville, if you ever come up this way i could help you out. I have a 02 Monte Carlo that i have tried a couple box designs with different subs. 12"s sealed facing back 15"s sealed forward 15"s ported subs up port forward 18" sub up port forward 15"s subs and port forward @ about 42 hertz 15"s subs back(inverted) ports forward(tube ports) @35 hertz This is my current setup, and was a HUGE gain(by ear) over any other setup. 15"s subs and port(tubes) forward @35 hertz But i think i need to cut my amp rack down some.

A few more vids. Hope to get metered soon. A buddy of mine. He has some kind of gland duct problem in his mought and is all swollen on one side of his face. I think if he wasnt on pain meds this might have hurt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8OW-Lyx7eU So my buddys cousin came to visit. We had to give him a demo. He said "why? I have heard a lot of loud systems before." This one shows some door flex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGvaBQnUE9A This one is short, but you can see some sunroof flew before i open it. Thought my wife wanted me to open it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcQ_qGlF92o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0vbAEqCnAM

specs on lvl 5 18?
herbykw replied to dohckiller808's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
4 lvl 5s and a Stetsom 11k isnt going nuts into a project? I would think you would want to upgrade your electrical before you kill something expensive. -
Yes i did. I stuck with the two 6" Tubes ports and subs forward. IT turned out to be about 5.8cubes(net) tuned to 35 hertz. Putting everything back all forward and removing the Gravity Bass Machine I had a VERY noticeable increase from having the ports forward and subs back. Not to mention that a couple days ago i added a Mechman 270a Alt. If you didnt see it, here is a build for the current box http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/87770-15-dc-xls-new-box/page__p__1201944__fromsearch__1entry1201944 And a small page on the Mechman Alt install http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/89275-mechman-270a-install/page__gopid__1222279entry1222279 Let me know what you think.

Show me your trunk mounted battery
herbykw replied to garrettr's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Wow, I could only fit 2 mine -
I might try to see it off the best i can. It shouldnt be hard, cause i know there isnt much space around the box. UnderLok thanks. What kind of dog is yours? We were told mine is straight Pit, but he deffinatly is NOT. Hes a great dog though.

True true. Yes, the amp is on a rack, it holds it up enought for the wire to run under it and give it some airflow. I know it blocks the port a lil Box is 41"H x 17"T x 20"D so about 6.55 cubes. Then subtract for sub and port displacement(ports 18" long only 10" into the box.) takes it to about 5.8 cubes and 35 hertz

Tracks listed. Thanks. Hopefully i can get some more videos over the next day or so. I will order a new HO alt this coming week. Then i will get some tuning done, then meter.

Carlos was having some problems with the pipe. plus they fin real tight. This box is significantly louder then the previous set ups. Couple vids Gucci Mane Vampires (Begining of song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6cLFR4rrEg Gucci Mane Vampires (about a 30-45 seconds into the song) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DMRE_YBAxc Clyde Carson Hood Stomped out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaifLy1cU8w Let me know what you think Check back later for more vids

I had a slot port, but after port displacement it made the box too small and took the tuning from 35 hertz to 42 hertz. I didnt want to use a tiny port just to get my tuning back down. This is also why the tubes extend from the box, to save airspace inside.
-
Ok, so I just made a new box a couple weeks ago. It sounded great with the subs inverted on the back of the box and tube ports forward, but i wanted to go back to ports and subs forward. The box is a little smaller, but i was able to use a previous box and make it work. It aint pretty, but damn its louder. Here is the old box i used. I took out the long sections of the tube port and left the other pieces for support. My bro Carlos helped and we sanded the edged of the supports round. YES, I KNOW I'M GOING TO HELL FOR THE SINGLE BAFFLE. Didn't have the wood. My other Bro David came to help. Its all in. Took it for a lil test run last night and it is a noticeable improvement from the last design. We also removed the Gravity Bass Machine(never used it). I will get some videos up when i can. My pup Chitto helped with the cleanup

Level 4 w/Level 5 coils
herbykw replied to hdorre's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
That is what I was goin to use on 2k each sub daily. Rusty reccommended just going with the XLs. I love them -
I have used a couple set ups in the trunk of my Monte Carlo. I have used two 15"s in a 6 cube box using either subs and slot port forward, tube ports forward, subs back, and am currently changing my box to subs and tube ports forward. 12"s would be a HELL of a LOT easier to design and build a box for. Yea my box is small for two 15"s, but it works. This is some set ups i have done. They aint pretty. Tube ports forward and subs back(inverted) 15"s Personal favorite so far Subs up slot port forward 15"s Subs and slot port forward 15"s Sealed Sub back 15" Sealed angled back, subs forward 15"s Sub up port forward 18" Does this help answer your question?
