i see on here talking about a 3 to 1 design or 4 to 1. is that just the ported box is three times the volume of sealed? i started to think about maybe a sixth order with a single 15 to try it out, but in reading that they are horrible on music.

i was told before that a smaller ported box will do better on the higher notes, but how much will that effect the lows? for bandpass, i have been playin around with some, but i dont really have an idea how to build them. I might not have the room either.

I cant decide on what would be best for what i want out of a system. i had 2 15s ported but thought it could of been better, so i stepped down to 2 12s ported while i worked out a better box for the 15s. Then i started to think of other options of setups, I thought about 12 10s sealed the 8 12 sealed and then settled on doin 4 15s in a sealed enclosure with 2 cubes atleast per sub. today i took my 2 12s, mojos in a ported box to 35 hz, and put in a box for my audiopulsle axis 15s in an old sealed box. I was dissapointed in the lows of it but it did to better on bass above say 40~45(guessing). So what i want is a box that will get down super low, and still be able to play the higher bass. Would 4 15s sealed get as low as 4 12s ported? I know it will do better on higher bass than the 12s. subs are undecided just yet. but im lookin at subs with high bl, big xmax, and low fs

If your new to carpetin i wouldnt use walmarts. Its harder to hide the seam with there carpet. its also small. i tried to carpet a box for 2 12s with theres and had to have 2 seams across the box since i had use two pieces. i would gett it smooth and paint it. heres the one i did for my gfs car painted to match her car

heres a kindof tutorial. showing how to hide seems. I do it the same way they show on there, but i use the carpet that he says not to use in the beginning.

dont know how to count cubic feet? usually itll be in inches for dimensions. for a 1 cube box youll have 12"x12"x12". youll multiply all those sides together and get 1728"^3 to convert that you divide my 1728 and you get on cube. so if you had a 11"x11"x7" youll get 847cubic inches, divide that by 1728 and you get .49 cubic feet.

Why not do another sealed box and fire it up to load off the hatch. I did one in my gf camaro with 2 L5 12's and it seems way too loud for some sealed 12s. Those subs are even recommended sealed too

why not use something like in the link that goes on top of the bed cover behind the window. like the baha racing trucks do. or somethin like how 18 wheeler trailers too and havin it under the truck, behind the back axle. or.. be like all us trunk guys with big systems and leave it in the garage. haha

i think it would be healthier for the amp to wire the sub in series until its broken in more.

i think that box tuning might be off.(first time with a passive radiator). I did another box this morning and its tuned to 35hz. i had a peak after 20 and around 45~50 i think. If it were me i would leave to tuning where i wanted it and just adjust port area and box size, If this is going to be a daily box. However if you were to make a box for spl you would need to aim for between those two peaks

i just did an imp plot with my tester and here is the results the box has 4 sundown E8's wired to 4 ohms. it has a passive radiator tuning to 30 hz. it has a peak after 30 hz and around 50 too. not sure why there is one at fifty.

time to hit up darvex. I had 50 ft of 8 gauge kicker i tried to use last wednesday but it was cut up for a previous install. I just put the install on hold and ordered another 50 ft of it. luckily it only takes like a day for things from darvex to get to me.

i think its the tuning. I use a dayton wt3 subwoofer tester for my imp rise and i always get a peak a little above where my box is tuned. but from what others have said on here its the opposite...?

wat is the box tuned at. my imp rise at my box tune is highest. but its more efficient. also keeps the voltage up.

the whole fuse on alts get me thinking sometimes. if you have batteries in the back, you fuse after the front batt and before the back batt. like ..batt...fuse.....................................fuse....batt .............................^short, your safe but on alts its ....alt....................................fuse........batt .................^short if there is a short there wont the alt just keep feeding power to the short? and just the batteries are protected been wondering this for a while

I was supprised the speakers i got worked since two of them were just thrown in there. He told me some stuff got mixed up and fedex would come pick them up friday. they never came but did show up yesterday after i told freeland i would just keep the speakers. he told me he was going to just swap out stuff, but im glad id didnt now since the ones you got were trashed. Pm me how much you paid freeland for the 4 5.25 and ill see if i cant get these shipped out to you. I was just going to resell them because i didnt wanna deal with freeland anymore.

This reminds me of the fact that whenever i take my car to a shop, if i havent taken out my audio system first, I say "Disconnect my REAR batteries too" if they need to cut off the power.

Isnt it the same as how if a highschool has a car wash to raise money, they cant say Car Wash for $5. But they can say Free Car Wash, Donations Welcome. So if it was just a free giveaway, and the only way to be know that you want what ever product will be given away, youd need to make a small donation to say, "username"'s car audio fund But I'm for getting rid of raffles. It seems like everyone that doesnt sell something in a few days want to immediately throw in into a raffle.

i got a message form him sayin fedex would come pick up the box today and id get the right speakers soon. called up fedex, they had no knowledge of them needing to come today to pick up a box. i also got a thing back from paypal saying he had responded with a trackin number. so i told freeland i would just keep the 4 5.25s and drop the claim. so after all of this, i would never buy from him again.

how long till you get some spl testing and pull a 150 from this thing? haha

im thinking about it, I might even get my money back through paypal too. he has till the 25th to respond to there. and i still have reason to file the claims since its not wat i ordered. so i dont think i should drop the claim just yet.

but 2 5.25s wont fit in each door. Unless i convince my gf to let me do some fiberglassin on her car

Well i guess he did finally ship them when he said he did. Today i find a package at my door, open it up. there a box of a set of 5.25's and another pair just thrown in the shipping box. So i got 4 5.25" speakers, But i told him probably 20 times that i paid for a pair of 6.5's. so after so much waiting and waiting, i get the wrong speakers. Im going to make sure they even work now, even though they are wrong. i guess ill have to wait another week before i here back from him again though.

I always buy extra terminals from PE to set me for free shipping haha.
