  2. i say go for it, I put those subs with a 600watt amp in my friends jimmy, In a ported box tuned to 37hz, did like a 140.somethin on a termlab. just the other day i heard someone bumpin on campus. I was lookin all around and finally saw him drive by. I was like..dang i did a nice system. hah

  5. 54.7 volts. you can also measure your output from you rcas by touching the outer part and the center pin and see if it gets close to 5 volts(before spliting) with it at 8 then see where its at at 4. might not even get to 5 volts either way, but set the gain till the speakers outputs read about 55 volts. where did you get 77 volts?

  7. This is why i like oscopes... takes most of the trouble out of things, cept gain matchin. wats your electrical system like to set the gains till your voltage drops.
  8. its quieter. not exactly sure, but -3 might be half the power of 0 db
  9. have you tried haveing it at 0 and the eq at 0 instead of all the way down(im assuming all the way down is negative numbers)
  10. sounds like its just a bass boost for the deck. set the gains with it a 0.
  11. dont just guess with the numbers on the knob, use a dmm atleast. and an oscope if you can. What amp is it?
  12. is it the gain that goes from 0 to 8? if it just a bass setting leave it a 0 i use 45 hz tones,but i use an oscope. if you using a multimeter i usually has a range of 50hz to 60hz ac volts. for 3k at 1 ohm it should be 55.8 volts. P=V^2 / r so V= sqrt(P*r) => V = sqrt(3000*1) = 55.77 volts

  14. I would go down to 2 10s, or a single 12. mustangs have trunks way to small for big subs, my neighbor fit 2 12s in with some cutting done though in an older mustang

  16. I dont think that is correct, The power does not have to split because your still sending 100 watts to each frequency. Its the frequencies that are getting separated. Atleast this is how ive been told before

I see it as passive is more efficient. if you have a 2 channel amp 100watts x2 you can power 2 tweeters and 2 mids by first amplifying the power, then sending in to a two way crossover that splits the signal and sends 100 watts to the tweeter and 100 watts to the mid with just one channel., Active however would require a 4 channel 100x4 amp. because of this i originally chose to do a passive setup, but am now switchin to active so i can adjust crossover points

  20. Is that a saz3000 each or or to both? or did you only have one? one 3000 to each might be pushing it, but just see how well they do with the power, then go from there
  21. Audipulse axis. Ive got 2 15's ive run a single one off a saz 3000 with no problems. there about 740 at parts express i think. great sq for all that power. especially under 30 hz.

  23. ive been havin this problem too. I used a heat gun and super 77 glue and after 2 days it was pealing off. ive started to redo it all with some of the stinger vinyl from darvex and the super 90 glue. so far is working out great. that 90 glue is so much better. also the stinger vinyl says its 3 way stretchable, before that i got some from a place called garysupholstery(dot)com, that site has a huge selection. only reason i went with stinger this time was it easier that the other site.
  24. youll need a test tone, like 45 hz. turn off the bass boost, leave it off. and turn the gain off. unplug the sub from the amp, if you have an oscope it will be more precise, but a multimeter can give a decent way to set the gain a way to set the gain correct is to run the radio at 3/4 volume with a tone playing and turn the gain up slowly until you get to the correct AC voltage coming out of the amp. to figure out the voltage you need to know the equation for power P= V^2 / R . solve this for V and you get V = sqrt(P * R) so your amp puts out 1500 rms at 1 ohm. so P * R is 1500 * 1 + = 1500. take the square root and you have an output voltage of 38.7 volts so with the multimeter set on ac volts, put the neg in the neg speaker terminal and the pos in the pos terminal. then just turn the gain up untill it reaches 38.7 volts. Im not sure if that amp is over rated or not, but this should get you in a good ball park range. And once you do this leave it, if its not as loud as you like it, youll have to upgrade to a more powerfull amp. You dont need anymore blown subs

Id still say you have it turned to the max, thats why youve burnt those other subs. idk about that eq, but alot have like a 5 to 10 volt output, and with your amp gain on full, your sending a bit 3000 watt clipped signal that is causing so much extra heat and killing subs. you have to fix this before moving on to a new sub.
