  1. they say that is caused by dirty power. ive never had the issue.
  2. Dont think this matters. Op the mounting diameter of the cut out hole is the same as the surround on the sub. Just make sure your hole is perfect and lined up unless its a w7
  3. how is the cone bigger than the mounting ring???? the cutout should be exactly the same either way. just flip the sub.
  4. cca isnt as conductive as ofc. there is no performance difference it can make on your system but cca seems to only be good for 250amps instead of 300amps. at least thats how i fuse them.
  5. that chart is for DC power. its all rated assuming 12v. AC power does not work the same and that chart means nothing. if that chart was correct, i would need like 3/0 speaker wire.
  6. what plastic would melt? my team mate used 10awg with his sd12k. and you dont even know how much power he is running.
  7. you can use 8awg if you want, or you can use 10awg and you'll be able to fit two into one terminal
  8. a chair without a backrest is fucking pointless. however a sub in a chair/couch is a great idea. all that open, unused space under there. save some space in the room from adding a sub. imagine a t-line under a couch.
  9. there is another factor to it but yes, you are correct. as for the wood idea. remember water get into your doors. water + wood = rot and mold.
  10. think ok the chassis as a wire. the negative actually starts at the battery, goes into the chassis then to your "ground" and into the amp. the copper in wire is more conductive than the steel of the car however. power doesnt just go into the chassis and disappear, it completes a circuit. is that what you were asking?
  11. i had a "door" on the roof console that was rattling. i opened it to prove it was the rattle... left it open for a min and the plastic hinges broke in half. ive got a passenger doesnt have his seatbelt light that wont turn off after a day of testing. cant wait for it to just burn out.
  12. read their rules. no one limits you to one frequency.
  13. how are you getting that with no length or tuning frequency? or did i miss something cause length means nothing when measuring the area of a circle.
  14. really guys? thats 6.28 square inches of port per cubic foot if the box is 2 cubes. i wouldnt ever build a box with such little port. will it work? sure. i mean prefabs work after all. they just suck. hifonics, you ask a new question every day. dont start giving advice before you know what you are doing.
  15. disconnect the new ground wire and see what happens. it shouldn't have hurt anything though. did you cause a short while working on something? get any sparks?
  16. it only took you 5 min to look through all those?
  17. really?... you bought subs not knowing if they are good or what amp to put them on? whats your budget for an amp? what kind of electrical does your car have? did you get d1 or d2 coils?
  18. i would go with the two 15"s at 1ohm and i'll tell you why. impedance rise. 4x rise at 2ohm gets you to 8ohm. at 1ohm it gets you 4ohm. so maybe the 12"s only get 1000w after rise and the 15"s get 2000w. twice the power. but i believe, not sure, that the four 12"s would have more rise than the two 15"s so the difference could be more significant than that. however, either option can be louder than the other. all depends on the user.
  19. meca, dbdrag, midwest spl, iasca, usac. all car audio organizations. go look them up yourself and read the rules. they will all have an event calender, though not all of them give much advance warning so you just have to keep checking.
  20. well seeing as how ebay saved 100k in 9 months, the amount of gas you use must be cheaper than electricity.
  21. that is a tough problem bumpn. so while you wouldnt have repair work anymore, i bet you would love to own maintenance free appliances. i think the job thing will be a big negative side effect but new energy like this is inevitable and required. and think about the bigger possibilities. make electronic engines for space ships and now you dont have to rely on carrying fuel. we could travel further into space. never have to refuel or charge your car. no alliance will ever need batteries. its the way to the future. cost will of course go down. as well as size. i mean, our cell phones are more complex than the 1st shuttle to land on the moon. the 1st computer was bigger than a large bedroom. edit - shit i cant watch that at work but i cant wait to get home and see it.
  22. this is pretty cool. I'm interested in seeing how this product plays out. http://techcrunch.com/2010/02/22/bloom-energy-boxes/
