  1. so you had alt whine through the speakers or your engine bay made a grinding noise? voltage shouldnt make any grinding. maybe its your ac pump?
  2. alright, heres what i got. 16h x 24w x 17d port - 14.5h x 2w x 19L gives you 2.09 cubes after displacement, 13.88 square inches of port per cubic foot. and 39.93hz.
  3. ok so sub and port back should be best. ill punch some numbers. oh, how much power?
  4. oh ok, thats not hard. what kind of car?
  5. ya, you need a real strong crimper. using just a vice wont get it tight enough and will likely fall out ever time.
  6. you will want some one local to build it. tell us where is GA you are.
  7. well you obviously have the fuse holder for the aug fuse. you can stick with that. or you get a new fuse holder and run something like a midi fuse.
  8. it wont overheat. running at 2ohm strapped, each amp still sees 1ohm. but an amp is more efficient running alone, plus impedance rise, you will be better off at 1ohm.
  9. So you have a team mate that has a walled sierra with 4 15's??? LOL That would be awesome. we have a lot of different setups. one is actually 4 15"s walled. but whatever, just telling you our results. some times it help some times it hurts. just trying to help. Who has the walled 4 15's? Has this person deadened there truck? kimo. that truck was made into a comp car long before i came along though. not exactly sure what all he has done to it. then there is alpine's burban. 6 18"s, something like 161db legal. the roof is deadened so much he jumps on it and doesnt move. i believe the doors are untouched though. no one's upset lol. thats the side i hate about the internet, you cant hear a person's tone. but it's better to assume a person is friendly than to assume they are being rude.

  11. lol how do you know what team mate i'm talking about? there are a few of us, several cars.
  12. but still...don't companies rate their subs with xx net volume sealed, and xx net volume ported? the ported volume is still higher, but being net volume, all displacements should have already been taken out, including port displacement. i know it's been answered already, just pointing out something you are correct.
  13. as for the airspace, its all about the pressure inside the box. more pressure is the same thing as having stiffer suspension. and that means more mechanical power handling.
  14. depends on the car and the frequency. my team mate deadened a bunch and lost .5db or more (dont remember exactly). ripped it all off. just one of those things you have to play with. if you burp at a lot frequency you want to just let the car flex. adding deadener will make the car resonate at a higher frequency and could hurt your score. im sure you know that already but just in case some one doesnt.
  15. forget spectrum. just do a layer on the metal skins and 25-50% coverage on the plastic panels. it'll help a lot. spectrum is a great undercoating. use it on your wheel wells and such. but the spectrum would have to go on over the damp. like you said.
  16. unless they changed it, you do have 2 channels. i would run each one at 1ohm. amps are more efficient when they are not strapped.
  17. you heard wrong lol happy birthday man.
  18. lol by post 5 i wanted to say "think its the fuse guys?"
  19. ive tried to find the article again several times. no luck.
  20. My 2 12's on 5000watts slams.. And I only got the gain 1/2 way up. So that makes me a wannabe? yes. you wanted to be cool like me except you beat me so i guess i suck.
  21. ya really lol. i couldnt tell you exactly why. im no physics major. ive read an explanation a long time ago though.
  22. WTF?! you all told me it was SPL dust, not grease! bastards funny part is, physics says that a sealed box should be louder lol. proof that audio just doesn't make sense.
  23. i know what you mean. it seems every time i get something new that will complete my system, something breaks. its like a revolving door. be sure to check the pulleys to see of they caused the problems in the belt. check the tensioner too. could be the belt was just old and started to cause the problems itself.
  24. if it was the belt, i would guess something must be seized up. check the belt and see if it look burnt or glossy. could also look for rubber dust around all the pulleys. that or take the belt off and try to turn each pulley, see if any of them are stuck.
