  1. The alt you have has no output at idle... when your engine rpms slow down, the alt stops making power. This is a common problem with inexpensive high amp alternators. If your voltage is dropping to 13V, then the alt is not putting out any power at all at that point. A good quality 200A alternator will do at least 130A at idle... If you would like to know exactly how much power your alt makes at idle, you can send it in for a free evaulation, and we can send you back a performance report.
  2. Its hard to answer your question "am I losing alot of voltage" without specific info about your voltage drop, amount of power you are running, etc. If you are noticing problems in your charging system, it could be because you do not have enough alternator power to keep up with your total amperage draw. This will eventually run down your battery bank, and you will begin to notice problems. There are two solutions for this. 1. Buy a new alternator, 2. Buy a good charger, and charge every few days to ensure your bank stays full. There actually is another option, but that would be unheard of... you could turn down your stereo! :hairtrick:
  3. Nathan will be along to update the status of the group buy early tomorrow. I think we will be very close to the 10% mark! Thanks guys!!!
  4. My apologies for the mix up on your order. When the dealer and I were discussing your order we were also considering setting it up to be used with the new VCM module. (below) When we determined the VCM was not available for it yet, I assumed it was understood it couldnt be adjusted without it. It was my mistake for making that assumption. I've already requested an update on the VCM for this model, and if something cant be supplied soon, you are more than welcome to return the alt for a full refund.
  5. For your situation I would recommend running a 12V alt. If you want to set it up so that you can run the one alt at 12V, and switch it to 16V for comps, we can give you instructions on how to do that. It will require that you use one of our alternators with the XS Volt regulator, and you will also need a couple 200A relays.
  6. D1400 is a 14V battery, and D1600 is a 16V battery. If you plan to connect it to a 12V system you will need to use a 12V battery instead.
  7. It's there... make sure you refresh your browser... you may still be pulling up the old site.
  8. FYI, purchases for D375, D1400 and D1600 will not ship until Feb 1, 2010. They are all new models and are still in production.
  9. You are correct. Although the 110Ah is very much on the conservative side... just keep in mind that our design intent is not for maximum capacity... we build other G31 sized batteries that are well over 120Ah for different applications, but that type battery has a different internal design that does not work well for high amperage applications like car audio. Really, you can get high capacity batteries anywhere... they are very common in telecom applications and are readily available for cheap (compared to a D3100) But they are not made to produce nearly 1400A for 30 seconds at 32 degrees, or well over 2500A for 3 or 4 seconds. You will also notice the Max Amps rating is now 5000A, which is a considerable improvement from before. In all reality, the 2009 D3100 is a very tough battery to compete with... for 2010 we had to get really serious to make any improvement at all, and I imagine the SPL difference between old vs new will be minimal. We mainly wanted to implement the handle... not many people like the strap we used to use
  10. It "talks" to it through a little cable that runs from the controller to the alt. Exactly how it "talks" is patent pending There's really not much to understand from the users standpoint. Want higher voltage... push the up arrow for MOAR. Want lower voltage... push the down arrow for NO MOAR!
  11. I think your truck uses a group 65 battery from the factory, so you would want to use the D6500 under the hood. If you wanted them all to match, you could go with one or two extra in the back
  12. Yeah, but I think your car comes from the factory with a group 24 battery. That would be the same as our D2400... you can double check with our tech to be sure.
  13. D6500's are brand new... in fact, the first batch will be shipping tomorrow. They are $289ea, but you may be able to get it for a discount on the holiday group buy
  14. More than likely your Expedition uses our new D6500 group 65 battery under the hood. BTW, your signature has Powermaster D3100's listed, but Powermaster doesnt make batteries and is a different company than XS Power, so... maybe you could update it to XS Power D3100 ?
  15. Works fine for me, on both my PC and my phone... not sure what happened???
  16. In many applications you can swap a 12V battery for a 14V battery, but you will need a way to properly charge it. Our VCM will allow you to bump up your factory charge voltage to properly charge your 14V battery. It will be up to you, the user, to determine if the 14V battery is safe to use for your car. I am sure as people buy and try them out, they will be able to help people understand which vehicles it works with and which it doesnt. You cannot connect a 14V battery in parallel with a 12V battery. All of the batteries in your system must be of the same voltage.
  17. When determining which battery to use to power the stereo system you just spent a pile of cash on, I wouldnt necessarily chose what is cheaper. To make power, you need reliable battery power that is made for the job. Dont skimp when it comes to your battery bank...
  18. Chargers like this are not made to charge AGM batteries. If you will be using this to charge AGM batteries you will need to monitor the voltage and time on charge very carefully. Allowing the voltage to reach 14.5-15V+ will begin to overcharge your AGM's and will reduce their lifespan. I would recommend only using the 2A charge, and leaving a dmm connected at all times so you can monitor what the charger is doing.
  19. Should work just fine. I am not sure if this application will be offered in version 1 that is shipping in December, or version 2 that will be shipping in Jan/Feb. You may want to double check with the tech dept at 888-4XS-POWER ext. 1211
  20. Should work just fine. I am not sure if this application will be offered in version 1 that is shipping in December, or version 2 that will be shipping in Jan/Feb. You may want to double check with the tech dept at 888-4XS-POWER ext. 1211
  21. If you want to control them seperately, you will want to use two VCM's. However, there are several instances where a single VCM will control multiple alternators. If unsure, you can check with the XS Power tech dept with any questions.
