so i was at a show today, this jeep on 30s or something retarded pulls up and i look to see what hes got... he has a rockford 4k 1 18 AA SMD # 35 or 39 ( cant remember) so i ask him what his box is tuned to, he tells me 32 now this box is maybe 3 feet tall 25 wide and 25 deep and looked like 2 2 1/2" ports on either side of the box ( not sure on the EXACT specs but its an extimate to what it looked like so i get in expecting to hear some major lows, he puts on white girl by jeezy and the low note comes.........can bearly hear it! subs movin like no other but cant hear it! ( 32hz my ass!!!) then the high note comes.....holy shit! the high note was nice and loud!!!! after some demoing he shuts it down and cheaks his "trunk" because he smells something hot, he cheaks the amp cold I feel the dust cap and it was HOTT i tell him thats what he smells....and tell him its hot the reply i get " is it supposed to be hot?" wtf!!!!!!!!!! your running a SMD and 4k and you dont know a sub should'nt be hot?! he managed to pull a 145 dont know what hz but it was high for a box tuned to "32hz" this is a case of " more money then brains"!!!!!

ya...but every car is different there not alll built the same.. my last car i could barely get any window flex with 6k now with the new car i get a decent amount on 3k

^^x2 i have a grand am.....even with a box tuned to 38 my car has a "peak" at 32 EVERY box that ive had has peaked at 32 in the car 146@32hz subs up port side tuned to 34 subs and port forward sealed from trunk did a 145.6@32 with a box tuned to 38

the subs closer to the port has no "back pressure" on the cone therefor its moving more then the other one fix- both ports in center or one on each side

when i had mine off 500rms each they got hot quick when i upped the power to 1500 each.. never had a problem... lol weird but true! try flipping subs over... see what happens?

the subs closer to te port is moving more? i ran 1500rms to my level 3 10s ( with level 4 coils and extra spider) no problem at all so i dont think its the power

i had an 18 in my car sub up port FORWARD sounded like ass turned box around sub up port BACK sounded muchhh better and get much louder!

make sure gasket holes and basket holes are lined up and just screw it in!!

the baskets have holes look from underneath youll see them just put he screw threw the surround

my DC level 3 10s were louder then my type rs nice subs

i run a PA sub in my car... its an old school cerwin vega stroker 18 paper coned woofer plays the lows pretty good did a 140 at 32 hz with it in a shit box..

i had mine in 4.5-4 cubes at 33hz loved it was on 1500rms

3 cubes... is to small for a 15 L7
