  1. A while back one of the guys was asking about flat paints and I had told them I just bought some. A lot of people were interested in the thread so since I just sprayed some I thought I'd start a little build log. Everyone on here is a bunch of picture whores (as am I!) so I wanted to make sure I was halfway through before starting the thread! Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions! This is what we started with, 1997 S600 A little prep work, of course I found WAY more dents then I thought I would http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/...90036_large.jpg Next comes primer for the dented areas that were taken to metal Test fitting the bumper after paint ( I painted the bumpers and trim first) In the booth getting ready!!!!! And after 3 coats of Hot rod Flatz!! And in the sun after baking overnight Obviously I still have a lot of work to do to complete and I use a local community college to paint because I don't have a booth at home!! Next step is to paint all the chrome trim in flat black and then the hood roof and trunk in the same flat Black. What do you think!?!?
  2. Found it!! Here it is but it's expensive Visit My Website In cali we can't have the car running for shows, and less than a 1/4 tank of gas if it's indoors. Got a V12 so 1/4 tank barely gets me out of the show when its over! Yeah I have one but it's bulky so I wanted a solution for when I'm at shows. We always pay for an AC setup for power for displays and such so I will tap into that. Now I just need 700 bucks! Thanks for all the help guys!
  3. Not sure, maybe it was more of an inverter, turning AC to DC. Seems easier than a 500 amp charger! Even in the article they didn't make a big deal about it like it was common.
  4. Not much, about 3000 watts plus lighting in the box and car lights etc. It needs to run for 10 hours. I know they make it I just don't know the name
  5. Nice, I actually saw both those option when I was looking around but the unit I am looking for will let me WANG all day and not kill the battery. It plugs directly into a wall socket at shows and basically acts as the alternator. The car that had it had a little door under the car and you just plugged it in. I've seen chargers on the kinetik site but I can't tell if they are what I'm looking for....
  6. I go to a lot of competitions for cars other than just audio and I ALWAYS kill my batteries. I know there area chargers out there I can install in the car and plug into a standard wall socket but I don't know who makes the mobile version. A long time ago I saw a car that had one in CA&E magazine but it was years ago. any ideas, got a show coming up on Sept. 13th and with shipping plus the dollars needed I gotta get on it!
  7. I think it's because latin/hispanic is due to being the only etnicity that comes in every "race". There are white black and everything in between latin people but just my thought. Don't forget in america if you are even 1% black you are still considered and REQUIRED to put black.......crazy right and people from India are considered asian...... but now asian can mark white? WTF?!?! I guess the census will do whateve it can to tell people that white is still the majority! That's really all this is for the census and government reporting for discrimination and funding.
  8. Shaved mine the old fashioned way, weld a plate just under the bodyline as close as possible. evercoat bondo (not the pepboys/oreily garbage) and floated the WHOLE door. Longblock the whole thing and tadah, perfect shave and you usually will find dents you didn't even see before. Hell my Cutlass door looked like camoflauge when it was done there were so many small dents! I just re did it actually and haven't primered it yet if you need pics I can take some.
  9. Sometimes these guys can get pshyced out too, he's going against Silva and you could tell he was trying to take the safe route. I rewound the last shot a few times and it just looks like Silva hit him right on the button. Also he was coming forward which makes it that much worse. The crazy thing is I'm sure everyone in here has knocked someone out at least once and it's never that skullcracker you think that knocks em out. It's that perfectly timed right on the button shot you didn't even mean to throw or was using to set up the big one. Makes for a weak sauce fight though........
  10. Damn, I remember when 160+ was world record territory. Now people are going to bass race it with music. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH US!!!!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/hairtrick.gif This is like the 10th time but details please, how many lvl3's and what amps?
  11. I got 2, 1 gallon kits with a gallon of primer and an extra quart for the wheels and trim (different type of primer needed) for $504.50 shipped.
  12. That's where I got mine, it's House of Kolors. Bought flat white and flat black today as a matter of fact! It's in the hot rod flatz section.
  13. How big is the box? Sealed or ported, didn't see a port. *EDIT* saw your sig, nevermind!
  14. Daaaaamn well don't I look stupid! I've had mine over 6 months an no problems, how long before your ballast blew?
  15. Got mine from MTEC, they do a lot of the import racers and luxury cars. The kit was 400 but I wanted the best available. They look just as good as the stock HIDs on my Benz. Stock colors range from 4000k-6000k anything higher and it will look cool but not have much output. Also, you may not know but it is illegal to add HID lights to a car that did not come factory equipped with them, not that it matters but just putting it out there. Now how am I going to explain to the cops that my 1985 Cutlass came with HIDs...........
  16. Thank you sir! That is all I wanted, just to get as close as possible so I'm not cheating myself. Now for a 65 degree day in Southern California..............
  17. No problem, but the case IS the battery, it has an entire EXTRA battery but it's a little bigger so it's something like 110% of the original, you get more than 2 times the power overall. Since you can't change the battery it's the only other way. It's the powerslider model.
  18. I had the same problem before and I got the incase power slider Visit My Website. It looks good, adds bulk to the phone so it feels about the same as a Blackberry and I don't cripple mine at all, half brightness, email every 15 minutes, text all day, play games all day and use the bluetooth and maps 24/7. Lasts all day and you can get one at Best Buy. Also I got a car charger from the apple store that has the regular Iphone and a blackberry adapter which is great because the incase uses the USB style charger. Just drop it in the charger when your in the car even for 10-15 minutes at a time and it charges up fast.Hope that helps!
  19. Thanks so much, means a lot coming from you Ed. My problem really is that I don't have access to the meter so I was hoping if I run the sweep with the peak hold on the Audio Control EPIC 160 would that at least get me to the right direction? I do wish I had access to a meter but not at the moment and the shops around here either don't have one or won't lend it out/let you use it.
  20. Yeah I have a ported box in the car but it was built to the manufacturers specs not my cars. I was planning on using the sealed box to find the frequency of the car and then build a new ported box to those specifications. Yes sir, at least that is what I also heard and was trying to check here. I gues just run a test CD that blows through the freq. range and record what I hit. The issue is that I dont have a meter so I was hoping something like the Epicenter 160 with the SPL mic could at least let me know what freq. are higher or lower. Anyone else got an idea if my Bodyfat scale/Epicenter analogy is correct?
  21. Quick question, I need to get my system tuned properly but like everyone else I want to do it on a budget if possible. :01nocomment8so: Soooo I had an idea, I don't have access to a Meter so I thought the next best thing would be something like the audio control unit (don't know the model) with the SPL meter. My thought was along the lines of a body fat monitoring scale. It may not be very accurate as to the level but if it changes from 1 DB level to another it should be right on, at least that is what doctors tell me about the scales; may not be accurate as to exact body fat but if it goes down a percent your down a percent. Also I believe the proper procedure is a sealed box in as close to the exact location of the build along with a test tone CD and run through the spectrum and mark it on a graph. The highest frequency is your resonant frequency and what your box needs to be tuned at or around. Chime in guys and let me know
  22. No not on this one, didn't join the forum until it was already built. Looked almost exactly the same as yours though. Just cut a hole around the three that are there now face the woofers and ports up and you should be good.
  23. We cut everything out up to the wiring harness since its tucked away. Remove the cover on the top to make sure there is no wires but there rarely is there. Make sure to cover the gas tank and have a fire extinguisher ready just in case.....You want the hole as big as possible. Mine is 2 12's and the hole is big enough to fit the box through. My cars a lot bigger than yours but my lexus was about the same size, you get the picture.
