I Cant Drive In The Snow
sound xtreme replied to a topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
surprisingly enough, here in buffalo we havent really had any snow yet. But most memorable-- October storm 2006 Its like 6PM on thursday and it starts snowing like a mofo, but is october 12th, which is completely fucked. Now i have my van completely loaded up to head to louisville for DB drag finals. I leave my house at 2:30AM friday, i am running over some braches (maybe 4-5 inch limbs) had to drive up on lawns to go around arcing power lines, took me about an hour to get to the thruway which usually takes about 15 minutes. The thruway was completely shut down so i got off (after driving a mile on the shoulder) and when i came to the light at the end on the exit ramp, i get stuck. Some people at the light helped push me free, they called me a dumbass for having 38 batteries and bald tires. finally got free from that and made it another 40-50 feet and got stuck again. I sat there for asbout 3 hours before a UPS payloader cleard the street so they could get there trucks back to the warehouse. By the time i got out of NY, it was about 8:30. what a cluster fuck that was. Another good one, I held a 3X last March--Xtreme Audio Thunder. It was in the mid to upper 50's all week. On friday the weather channel informed there was a major Lake Effect storm coming into NY. The entire NYS thruway was closed from the PA border to the Canadian border. The was a driving ban on all city streets, yet 23 cars showed up for it, plus vendors and spectators. In all between friday night and sunday morning we got just over 32 inches of snow. Mad props went out to the guys that came up with the storm through Ohio ann Pa. -

new idea "i think"
sound xtreme replied to spl audio1's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
a 8" sub with a 3" isn't likely to happen. The spider size would make it mechanically impossible. with a 3" coil, i believe the biggest spider that you get for a 8" basket is 6". this would leave you with only 1.5" to roll minus the 3/8" glue lip bringing it to a whopping 1 1/8" to roll. Even if you spent all the money to tool a new spider (which would be very cost prohibitive) the most you could get would be maybe 1.25" excursion P-P, and at that point why bother when there are already 8's that do that. And as far as a cone is concerned, a 8" cone would also have to be tooled for this. it would need a very tall surround (which would be inefficient) and the cone area would be so small. But if someone has 10-12 thousand to spend, I'm sure Rusty or Jacob would go ahead and get you the sub. but it would be a shop piece for customer to oogle over -
I want dc's but dont know what to get
sound xtreme replied to Trexx's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
any retard can go to walmart and buy a computer. anyways a level 4 with 1600 watts on it would be a good match, if you plan to increase power to 2000-2600, try looking at the level 4XL. Conact rusty and get it done. I run alot of his woofers, and they are very well built woofers, however, so is the mojo. There is no guarantee that you will be louder, but it will in my opinion, sound better -
I wanna be on Team DC :(
sound xtreme replied to Jaredturp's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
try becoming a member of a major competition format (dbdrag, usac, nspl) and compete for atleast a year. there might be some changes in the way Rusty does his Team DC. And he is on the right track. -
stupid fedex people
sound xtreme replied to old dude's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
i always had good luck with DHL before it closed its domestic department. I have lost so much money through fedex and UPS. I once shipped a CN Sounds 18 to a guy in virginia. It was in a wooden crate and packed to the hilt. i got a call 3 weeks later from fedex saying i had a package. when i went to pick it up, all that was left was the motor and the mounting plate of the basket, no crate, no basket, no soft parts, just a beat up motor. they told me it was improperly packaged. I was So pissed, i wanted to punch that bitch in her face -
3 cubes is way too small for any size TRF. You should immediatly ship me this woofer. Just kidding. For a 15" TRF start at 5 cubes, about 80-90 square inches of port.

rusty can bench over 5K -
its not that people are trying to be assholes, they are trying to give you advice on the XL's. I understand about money flow. What I'm saying is that you would be better off saving up for another month to have enough money to buy the XL's. I have played with both and they are woth the money. With the possibility of only having 8 cubes to work with, have you considered the option of running the level 4XL 15? It would be a little cheaper, and i think you will be closer to the airspace. Dont forget to factor in bracing, sub displacement and port displacement. Just trying to be helpful. I have my 15" XL's in about 7 cubes and that shit pounds pretty damn hard. i can bassrace the 49.9 class, and its in the back of a suburban with all the seats in(including 3rd row)

choose which ever one that either has a (best) warranty, or which ever one supports their equipment better. Its not hard to get ahold of Mike Steirs from maxxsonics. I have no idea who does Orion. -
congrats on the win this year shaun. Hopefully next year will bring you a challenger (north american)

with a trunk like that though, moving tons of air=making tons of rattle. Wall it with like 6 12's.

Both Enersys and Fiamm make pretty good batteries compared to a lot of the other junk floating around (C&D type telecom batts) Ouch!!! now battery companies are bashing each other, next up, wiring/cables???
-
you get a discounted price. Free car audio is a thing of the past. In order to be considered for a sponsorship, you have to have some accomplishments, be in the game for a while, or be building something wild where you are dropping some serious cash. So many companies have been burned, they are gun shy. Some even require a build log. Be prepared to sign a contract that is legally binding too, break the contract, and they comin for your ass.

if the owner of the JL amp is your cousin, ask him to let you drop it in and see if its louder. Thats what family is about. If its louder buy it, if not, help him sell it as a thank-you for trying it out.

Cat 5e cable...suitable for RCA's?
sound xtreme replied to a topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Agreed, Cisco makes some nice equipment, I would have figured they would be teaching even the basics. I have solid outdoor cat running through the van, and outdoor cat patch cables going from the external radio to the van. The first time i set it up, people looked at me like i was nuts. I also have a separate lcat line running for the power for the external unit. -
