DC XL 8000+ watts free air new vid
The A Team replied to The A Team's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
You are right it definitely looks different then a regular cone while moving. One of the first things i noticed on my drive with it to Sac-town. but lets not worry to much about the flat sub until i test it out in the trooper. Could happen right after christmas. -

DC XL 8000+ watts free air new vid

Maybe all youtube videos of people playing over rated power to subs should have a disclaimer at the beginning? lol Come on you guys. Dont worry about it, take it for what it is 4000+ watts free air for 5 seconds. It was said by a member it could be done, i did it, i filmed it, i proved it. Honestly like alpine said im sure this sub could handle 8k and still live it probably wont make very nice noises but still work afterwards. Maybe if i get real bored one day i will put a 11k to each coil and see what the free air limit is then i can say to people not to do that!! haha If you followed the last shit show thread you know why i made the video i should not have to remind anyone. But this is a new topic dont go looking to start shit over again please. And to honest i dont think i have ever blown a sub up that wasnt MY fault. -

Dont forget rated power handling is for longer periods of time. Its not false info that DC rated a XL at 1500 rms im sure that just about bang on. When it comes to how much power people use on a sub it doesnt really matter. The #1 threat to the speaker is the person controlling it. You need to know the limits in your install, because very system is different. Also it depends on what part of the speaker fails for warranty. If some one burns up a coil chances are it was abused very badly. But that another story. If i did a video of this sub playing with 1500 watts it wouldnt be very exciting im sorry to say. No one wants to see that. -

Here are the power #s copied from the other thread. How i break it down to keep it simple, peaked 1 second power free air i seen 36.09 amps, and 133.2 volts = 4807 watts. Now if you look at the amperage sustained for 3 seconds or a bit more we have amperage of around 31 which would still work out around 4129 watts. -
Ya that has alot to do with it. On burps i would like to see this tested and maybe you are the man for the job Rob. Interested to find out at what point the lv5 gets louder then the XL.... Im thinking on burps 10kw is the barrier. But thats only a guess. Test that out for me Rob and get some vids. :tease:

http://www.youtube.com/user/ateamaudio#p/a/u/0/GhF4rQvMxn0 This is to show just how much these subs can REALLY handle free air and to make all my friends happy. Enjoy!!! Disclaimer: The power being ran in this video should not be attempted at home. The person working the volume is a trained professional at "rolling it up." To follow along to duplicate these results will result in void warranty of all products involved. It is recommended you hire The A Team to perform these sort of tests.

I think that seems fair, gives him lots of time to get it together. There must be something in the water down south. haha -

Nice Sub A Team
The A Team replied to WCA Rusty's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Well i cant stand reading all these comments about if it was 4000 watts or not, then all the #s being thrown around...... So i put the clamps to it. I have a vid uploading now but figured i would share the #s first. How i break it down to keep it simple, peaked 1 second power free air i seen 36.09 amps, and 133.2 volts = 4807 watts. Now if you look at the amperage sustained for 3 seconds or a bit more we have amperage of around 31 which would still work out around 4129 watts. So this would mean only one thing and that is that Kirill007 is the winner with the very first guess of "4000 watts i suppose." This also proves that these subs can handle more then 1000 watts free air about 4x that infact. It may also prove that some members who seem to not like the product like to make fictitious claims. But this isnt to start anything just to stop the lies, and guessing. -

Rusty is the one who leaked the picture to this thread in the first post. So according to your theory this was a poor decision on his behalf. this is why i said it was to late no matter when you posted about hype theory. -

It was to late the second Rusty made this thread. Either he is a fool for doing it or he is a genius. -

Man you are like the energizer bunny of pain in the ass. lol This vid was to show the cone strength and the sub in motion, it did just that. We will test clamped power and spl soon, so refer to the large letters above please. The people who are liking what they see must trust that we can make this work and thats great. We need people who are behind us and wish to have this option when its available otherwise there is no reason to do it if it wont sell. Lets look at a business perspective here. Then we have you.... You are skeptical ok we have established that im pretty sure at this point. Every other post doesnt have to be you saying it wont work or asking for detailed autocad drawings of what we are doing so that you can approve or not. So lets stop the broken record bull shit here and lets all wait to see how it turns out. Thats not asking to much. -

I have been trying to defend against your opinion on this idea, and seems DC in general. You came into this thread in attempt to prove this idea wrong, so i think you have that part backwards. All we are doing here is giving people a sneak peak. You will see clamped power tests along with SPL gains/ losses in due time. Just sit back and enjoy for the time being. -

The A Team replied to WCA Rusty's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
You will see more tests dont you worry. This was just to get the ball rolling for now. So lets say my 11k2d clips at 1000 watts, i ran these last year no clip at all. 4 amps 8 subs total power of 4000 watts, bassrace 161.8? I hate to say it but im good!!! No no that was my good leg i was beating it on. MY steel leg doesnt bend like that. -

Thats no chicken fool, thats the Black Co(k!!! I dont know what kinda power it is because it says 11,200 watts on the package lets say that? But this amp is under ratted so maybe 14,000 watts? haha Seriously ya probably in that area for power i would think. You are bang on its a nomex honeycomb core. SPL wont break this cone. -

I need to wait on a few other things before that happens....... more to come on that when the time is right. haha Good point. What shall we call it?
