DC lvl 4 xl power question
Steph3n1 replied to Swaggasaur's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
people who put woofers on 2 and 3x the rms arent the people who drive around all day everyday bumpin. They are the ones who listen to it for a good 15-20 mins give it a break. and Go again. If you dont know what a hot VC smells like dont even try it. but you could just get another hifonics and keep the gains conservative -

if your going to wire them to 1 ohm nominal id put them on something like a sundown SAZ-2500. as far as power wire your definately gonna want to run 1/0 gauge as well as getting a new battery up front and one from the back. and possibly even a High output alternator. As far a speaker wire goes 10 gauge should be fine -

if thats the case then the Vc could have partially un wound thats if it bottomed out. push on the cone somewhat hard if you hear a scratchy grinding noise then time for a recone! -

take the woofer out and stick the probes in the speaker terminals. thats the only way to really know. its quite possible tho i have a woofer sitting in my room with one coil reading 2.0 and the other reading 3.8 lol <-meaning its donezo Edit: Alex K's idea is possible too. although itd be weird for a woofer to have coils that would wire down to 1.5 -
if its in a ranger you could just fit as much port as you can inside the box and have the rest of the length needed externally. or put them on the side of the box firing at the drivers side wall so they could go the wedth of the box. plus youd do better numbers on the TL like that (most of the time)

i think you should do 4 4" aeros or 2 6''. your only giving it 37^2 of port which seems a little low imo. what kind of aeros flared or just pvc pipe? Edit: 2 6'' aeros would be best honestly they would give you right around 12^2 of port per cube

yeah ive had one break on me before it was no big deal my fault its a VERY easy fix tho. i just did away with them and soldered up some 8ga direct leads FTW
